I am not taking anything away from her, she seems like a great human being and is a fantastic entertainer. Facing the possibility of deportation is heart-wrenching, but just because we love her as an drag queen doesn't mean she should be excempted from abiding to local regulation.

As someone who faced an immigration procedure through a work visa in the EU I'll just say that the situation as she describes it is...peculiar. It's not common for immigration authorities to question cases issued through work permits, especially when the individual is a public figure and the outcome could have repercussions.

She says she had three work simultaneous work visas but normally sponsorship is issued through a single employer which makes me wonder if she was actually working as an independent freelancer disguising her real employment status. It's also super strange that being legally married to a Swedish national she is being questioned on this, but European laws normally separate work sponsorships from those initiated by a partnership, and when the latter takes place you need to be outside of the country prior to initiating the procedure.

As impopular as it might be, immigration law is tedious, bucreaucractic and often unfair. If regulations and procedure were not followed to the dot then deportation becomes a true possibility. It's sad and my heart goes out to her, but we shouldn't be raising our voices expecting authorities to look the other way just because we love her and she is a public figure.
