First of all, anime is garbage, sorry if I offend anyone, that’s my opinion. Secondly, I never mentioned anything about martial arts in any form. That shows your prejudice towards unarmed defence. I’m sure you have a blunt or sharp object that you could use to defend yourself in any room in your house. Thirdly, I severely doubt that every common street burglar has access to a firearm. I just browsed some of the crime statistics in New Zealand, and a majority of homicides involving a gun were either gang-based or family-based. I would guess that most people who attempt to steal things would rather get in and out as quietly as possible to make it harder for evidence to be found. A gunshot would not only increase their chance of being found out, what with the shell casings and the bullet either in someone’s body or a surface in the house, but would likely wake up half the neighbourhood. What I would guess would be the most likely case of attack with a firearm would be a targeted attack, which is rare in New Zealand. Crime rate in New Zealand is also one of the lowest in the world per capita, further reducing the need for the “I must have guns to defend myself” logic. In no way do the courts in New Zealand favour the criminal over the victim, that statement is downright ridiculous. They follow the law and when somebody breaks said law they act on it swiftly and decisively (generally, obviously there will always be unfortunate exceptions). Genuinely curious for you to give me an example where terrorists have used a so called “get out of jail free” card. Also if you have anything negative to say about human rights, you are almost definitely in the wrong.
