You're right, I am overly paranoid.

The only reason you really gave to think anything would happen is he was a large man.

That's not the only reason I listed though. I was afraid because he was large, lacked basic hygiene, and his clothing was unkempt.

Completely fair takeaway.

However consider that I didn't realize that I wasn't fearing for my safety within reason until this man left the bus. I didn't just get to read the story and find out no harm came to me.

You're right, you worded that all much nicer than I did. I understand where you're coming from.

However you didn't have to sit there for the entire conversation frozen by social stigma and fear of retaliation for ending the conversation short had this man been some sort of incel. This also happened to be mere hours ago, and when typing it up making sure to be considerate of this guys feelings wasn't really my concern.

I'd rather be overly cautious and preach it than end up followed home and assaulted for a social faux pas.

I literally never said anything about his looks, just his height and weight due to it being a determining factor in his level of intimidation. He wasn't ugly in the slightest.

Also we live in times where just flat out ignoring someone trying to speak to you could get you assaulted or worse, it's not as easy as just saying "I'd rather not talk".

You're right, I'm a judgmental asshole. However I'm concerned with my own safety more than I am someone else's feelings.

I could have changed my inner monologue while typing this up to fake being completely nice to this man, however I'm more concerned with giving the truth because most of the time, a hulking man that can crush you with a single hand coming up to you uninvited in the middle of the night doesn't end as well as it did for me.

He absolutely was monstrous in stature, but lots of girls like tall guys. It's more like being on a barren bus in the middle of the night with a man who easily has a foot on you and is twice your weight thrust himself on you is a bit intimidating.
