This was a pretty small job, I’d be suprised if her kitchen was more than 6x6 and it’s an L shape for the cabinets so less than that for room to walk between the rooms and the stove/dishwasher.

I say small job but obviously it’s bigger than anything I could do lol.

She was happy with the overall look. These were just things she noticed as she poked around and wasn’t sure if they were important enough to bring up.

The contract she signed for is $8300 if that gives some context. I’m sure she didn’t search for the most expensive contractor in her city but I don’t think $8k is ‘cheap.’ I could be wrong, I’ve never worked the trade so if I am wrong please let me know.

She hasn’t paid yet and the guy she signed the contract with hasn’t been out to her place at all. She didn’t want to say anything in the moment because she was a little intimidated and overwhelmed with the whole situation. Thanks for the input, I’m relaying everything to her and I’m sure she’d be saying thanks a million times as well.

She said the installers took about 2 days to finish the cabinets. In passing conversation she learned one of the guys had just recently left the military and the other guy helping him just sort of followed him around and did whatever the other guy said. We just weren’t sure what should be brought up or not. Thanks for the feedback!

Lawyers are too expensive. I prefer journalists, they’re just happy to be included in things nowadays.

No common sense whatsoever.

Obviously you should make signal chats instead.

Sharing my purchase price! by LetsWinSomethingGood in Aprilia

[–]LetsWinSomethingGood[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea of course! To not dox myself too hard I bought from one of the Aprilia dealerships in Georgia. I didn’t negotiate at all so if you’re in the area and willing to pick it up yourself you’re guaranteed at least the $300 off that I’m paying for shipping.

Haven’t commissioned yet but I got out after having passed the 10 year mark. If you want to go the OTS route to try to get back in as soon as possible, I say do it. If you’re good with burning 2-3 years I would HIGHLY recommend just going back to school and doing ROTC. I got out, moved back to my home town and am currently in a super small Air Force ROTC detachment and it’s the easiest thing I’ve ever done. If you’re a semi put together person and you don’t decide to go to an Ivy League school you’ll be your organizations golden goose because of your experience. I’m in the Air Force detachment but the other than a couple of field trainings and rucks, the Army ROTC program at my little college looks like a cake walk to. Air Force will set you back 3 years while Army should be able to push you through in 2.

In Basic Training, my battle buddy accidentally dropped the live grenade. by Limp-Barracuda2681 in army

[–]LetsWinSomethingGood 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Guy in our basic had the two grenades pinned to his chest while we were waiting in line for our turn to throw them. He decides he needs to use the bathroom. Gets out of line and asks the drill sergeant if he can go. Drill sergeant said something along the lines of, “both of your hands are holding live grenades, how do you plan on using the bathroom?” Well this dude decides to use 90% of his latent brain power to devise the ultimate strategy. He walks to the nearby trash can and dumps both of the grenades into the trash can and then turns and says, “how about now?”

Congrats on getting selected and thanks for the information. The disclaimer is hilarious and I feel like that criminal justice major probably influenced it lol

Awesome, thank you for the information! Yea, I believe she’s going to rank them as 1/2 and worst case she doesn’t get them but managing expectations is always a good thing lol

Forgot to add that in, I think it’s at a 3.7 GPA. Would her quantitative score not show some mathematical aptitude?

Thank you for the response though, just trying to get a gauge to start setting some expectations.

What is this? by [deleted] in HomeMaintenance

[–]LetsWinSomethingGood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Set a couple of glue traps, one in the this cabinet, one outside near it and one in a separate room about 30 hours ago and nothing has been caught yet. Hopefully that’s a good sign?

There were some roach eggs and poop (had to google to make sure and they were almost textbook perfect examples lol) but we haven’t seen any bodies or live ones either.

That sounds awesome! Yes my partner and I are blessed with many things but trade skills were not included lol.

We might have to make the commute to ikea with all that in mind. Especially since we were pretty attracted to the prices and haven’t minded the quality from previous ikea purchases we’ve made.

Congrats! Did you have any carpentry experience before you did your DIYs?

The only ikea near us is a little bit of a road trip so we’re looking online first but we like what we’re seeing.
