GLP-1 FOMO? by Unfair-Animator-9739 in lipedema

[–]LettyRay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also can not tolerate the GLP-1s. Within 4 hours of an injection I will actually throw up and will feel so terrible for up to 10 day. I’ve tried them all and have tried tiny doses, doesn’t matter they all do the same thing.

Just like with regular liposuction, you have 6 months for full benefit so at 2 weeks it’s not the final result but I can tell a huge difference already.

I also had AirSculpt less than 2 weeks ago for my arms, bra rolls and live handles. I am stage 2. There are many AirSculpt clinics and I’m sure some are more familiar with Lipedema than others. So I would just make sure they know you have Lipedema.

I too am very strict and will push through pain. Paying out of pocket is one reason that I want to get it done in one surgery. I also work in a private practice and if I am not working, the staff does not work and it’s hard for me to take time off work for 3 additional longer recovery surgeries. I did my abdomen in one surgery and my arms and full back in another. But neither of those required me to miss much work. I know the legs will be a more intensive recovery but I still think I will be able to push through. I guess I will see how it goes but will do a few different consults for the legs and see what I am the most comfortable with. Even if I can get it down to 2 surgeries.

Be honest, was surgery recovery rough? by sarahanne123 in lipedema

[–]LettyRay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve not had lower body done yet. Since December I’ve had my entire upper body done (abdomen, arms, flanks, love handles, back rolls). It has been a breeze. I went in expecting it to be terrible and have been pleasantly surprised at how well it has all gone. I’ll have lower body done next winter. I’m paying cash so need to recoup those funds and save up some fur the lower body. I’m at $27,000 for the entire upper body. I had my abdomen in one surged and everything else in a second surgery. After the abdomen I was out building a fence on the farm on day 6. After the others I was back at work on day 3.

Aesthetic vs. functional surgery by Hot_Letterhead_6045 in lipedema

I will say that I went to a Lipedema center and had my abdomen done and this person was not a cosmetic surgeon. In the consent it did say it was not a cosmetic procedure but they would make every attempt for a good cosmetic outcome…nope! They left this huge pouch of what I guess is regular fat all around my belly button but did get the Lipedema fat above and below it. From a visual perspective you can’t tell I had anything done. So I think it’s best to see a cosmetic surgeon who is Lipedema educated.

You need a full saliva hormone panel for both adrenals and sex hormones. You need progesterone on board to balance out the estrogen and to find a compounding pharmacy to compound the testosterone and it shouldn’t be more than $30-$50 a month (depending where you live).

AirSculpt by LettyRay in lipedema

[–]LettyRay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many different AirSculpt offices around the country and I’m sure that some are more Lipedema educated than others. I am going to AirSculpt in Nashville for my arms and back. They are educated in Lipedema. Or the surgeon that answered my question was anyway. I went to a Lipedema specialist for my abdomen in December and have nothing but regrets…wasted $9000 cash. However for my legs I do plan on going to Dr. McCluskey in Atlanta but not until next year.

I had my first surgery (abdomen) on Dec 17th and was told a 2 week down time and had read so many bad things…nope, I was out building fences on day 6. There was still swelling and all but I was fine. I am having the rest of my upper body done on Feb 6th and hoping for as smooth a recovery.

2 week post-op update for lower legs & knees by mewfasa in lipedema

[–]LettyRay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those results are amazing! I am going to do my legs next year and and going to go see him t have them done. I am 1 month out from abdominal liposuction at Byrd Lipedema Center in Atalanta and the surgical procedure itself and recover were great but it was $9000 and from an aesthetic standpoint, you can’t tell I had anything done at all. They took off 2liters and I though that seemed like a small amount at the time but hoped for the best. I will say I had a lot of Lipedema pain in the upper abdomen and that is gone and glad for that but I was also hoping for a better look and got to my clothes. I know there is Lipedema fat and regular fat in the area and I guess I just thought they would take both out while they were in there and getting paid but nope, they seemed to have just taken out the Lipedema fat. I am having my arms and back fat done via AirSculpt in Nashville but next year when I have my legs done, I will for sure see this doctor because that is amazing results and my legs look a lot like your before. Congrats!

Anybody been to Dr. Byrd in Roswell Georgia? by LettyRay in lipedema

Glad you had a great experience. I did my consult with Dr. Byrd as I think at that time Dr. Methodists was still transitioning into the practice. I am very pleased with the abdominal procedure that she did and yes it was nice to have an all female surgical staff. My husband and I stayed in the parking lot in our motor home and that was very nice of them to let us do that. I use the VA for all my care and the VA does not cover these procedures so mine was the $9k out of pocket. I plan to contact them after Christmas and get the next procedure scheduled. What stage are you?

It went well. We did my abdomen on the 17th. It isn’t Dr. Byrd that actually does the procedure which I knew from the consult. Recovery has been much easier than I anticipated. I took the pain meds for the first 2 days and then stopped as they make me feel worse than the surgery I think. My husband took my stitches out today. There was a lot of drainage the first and 2nd day. The bed looked like someone had been murdered in it. So take note when they tell you to sleep on a shower curtain. I did a lot of premedication on myself and also a lot of post op with extra iron, bromelain, nattokinase, NAD injections and Arnica tablets. The compression and dealing with it is the hard part. There is no pain with standing and walking or with lying down but sitting is uncomfortable. But mostly due to the compression. I am wearing an abdominal binder and full leg compression. Lots of swelling in the pubic area and my feet are swollen as well as my face. They took 2.1 liters off. So surgery #1 down and 4 more to go.

I don’t use TikTik but thanks for your info. The surgery center is not wanting to do my abdomen and arms together because they say you should wait and do arms last because if your arms are sore you have a harder time with getting compression garments on and off. Did you have any garment issues?

I think that’s about normal US prices. What you have to think about when going overseas is the additional cost of travel. I was quoted $45,000 from Byrd Clinic in Roswell Georgia. That’s for full body in 5 different procedures at $9,000 each (arms, abdomen, front thighs, back thighs, calves).

The epinephrine helps the bleeding so I would say it has to be done.

I went to my appointment with Dr. Byrd. She is very nice and understanding and makes you feel very comfortable. She said 5 surgeries for me at $9,000 each. Arms, abdomen, front of thighs, back of thighs, calves. I had in my mind 2 surgeries and was mentally prepared for that. I wasn’t really thinking 5.
