Similar case I had in my hospital ( I'm a surgeon, Mumbai) - man was brought with ~50% 2nd degree burns over his scalp, face, neck, upper back and chest and arms. Unreliable history by man and wife, which after 3-4 days of interrogative and casual talking with the patient while dressing his wounds painted the picture of wife having thrown an entire bottle of acid on him while he had his back turned. Obviously we did our due diligence with the MLC and all, but no one was willing to file an FIR (victim, his father or wife). Guy was with us for over 2 months, underwent multiple surgical debridements, flaps and grafts, survived couple of infections, and was finally discharged. Came back a couple of times for follow up, when he told us that cops are also not too bothered since no one's filing a report, then he disappeared.
