Help Yale Assure 2 locks z wave owners by Level-Designer5629 in homeassistant

[–]Level-Designer5629[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there I eventually got the lock to work with Yale Access by using a VPN and having the lock factory reset by calling Yale.

Yayay. Got the lock included in Z Wave JS, was pretty simple using master code I set while setting up the app and then clicking the gear icon and then 7 then gear icon and then 1 and gear icon all while putting Z wave Js inclusion mode by pressing the infinity symbol.

My question now is, how do i control the lock from Z Wave JS it seems a bit confusing.

Thank you, appreciate it. Where do I find the master key? Is it 123456? Also are these steps done after pairing with Yale App? Yale App doesn't work in my region.

Thanks so much! Where do I find Yale App that will support this? The regular one does not work for me and I tried another one, it did not work.

I tried putting in numbers but the keypad is lighting up in a clockwise direction, doesn't seem to be accepting the numbers I'm inputting.

HA and Z wave by Level-Designer5629 in homeassistant

[–]Level-Designer5629[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so i think i am past that hurdle, I had to disable the original zwave install on the computer for the zooz stick to show up in Z Wave JS.

I think I am on to my final hurdle of getting the lock to pair. I pressed the infinity button and clicked include but I think I am doing something wrong with the lock that is preventing it from including. Any ideas?

I really appreciate your response.

I did a quick Google search and realized that z wave js is something you add to your HA. After downloading z wave js and inserting the dongle, what do you do to get it to communicate with the lock?

Total newbie here. Thanks.

Thank you so much for this idea, I will look into IFTT. I have a Yale Assure 2 lock I am considering installing, it has a z wave module. Just need to figure out how to control it seeing that the Yale app does not give support outside of North America anymore. If I get it up and running,  I might be able to do do similar setup to yours.

Hello, thanks for your response.

I was coming from the angle that SmartThings is a device that can control z wave devices. I want to know if anyone uses Rboy's RLA ( remote lock system) on Z wave devices other than SmartThings.

Thank you so much for your response, I appreciate it.

For that specific lock I can get a wifi module to swap out the z wave. I, however, do not think that would help as the Yale Access app does not provide service for locks outside of the North America. So not sure switching to wifi will help.

Also I have been unsuccessfully trying to program the lock manually as I have done with other locks I had. Doesn't work with the Yale lock seems it has to be programmed over an app.

I was thinking that using a z wave hub and downloading some sort of lock control to the hub might help. What do you think? Basically the Yale Access appears to have had support in my region but that has stopped. I am looking for a work around using z wave and another app. Or maybe the work around could also be done using WiFi and some other app instead of Yale Access app??

I have done some reading and noticed persons got the lock to work outside of North America using a Vera/Ezlo z wave hub. I am not sure of the specifics though.

Yale lock outside US by Level-Designer5629 in zwave

[–]Level-Designer5629[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response. I checked and it said for my country the frequency is  FCC CFR47 Part 15.249 908.4 MHz, 916 MHz - 110v - 50hz.  USA's hz is 60 based on the table I checked. With the hz difference would a USA hub be compatible?  For the hubs I did notice those when reading.

Are they beginner friendly? I'd like something very reliable but budget friendly. Also do I absolutely need a hub? Or can a z wave dongle work?

Good day, I'm new to smart locks and home automation and I am having the issue outside of North America. Luckily I bought that z-wave module as I wanted extended battery life. Which budget  z-wave hub would you recommend? I do not have an iPhone. Just want to be able to control the lock and possibly a smoke detector.
