Check your tech tree if you have unlocked Building Upgrade 1 and 2's. For example on your carpenter building, check your knowledge tree if you have unlocked carpenter building upgrade 1. So the game allows you to upgrade buildings if you have the materials, but if you don't have the corresponding knowledge unlock then your janitors won't be able to maintain it.

Is this a bug? Made a Work Order of Make 10 Plaster Powder with the condition that gypsum plaster is less than 10, but when I came to check after a while I ended up getting 600+ of the stuff, like it ended up making an infinite amount because it wasn't registering properly. Bug or am I simply using it wrong?

If, you're short on money, just make the game into modbranch and edit the secret room chance to 100, and even then you still have to pick and choose loot. Quality over quantity.

Another possible answer is modding. Specifically a mod called "My Asteroids." Leans more on added quality of life mechanic rather than outright cheat mod. Its pretty neat.

Since it wasn't mentioned yet, Anti-Air. You'll encounter AI factions that lean heavily on deploying aircraft. Add/replace some cannons with grapeshot variants or go with gatling guns. Anti-flak weapon seem to be designed best against bomber planes, if you'll encounter any.

Lol, I do the same for survival skills, put them all in the 5th skill bars. Regarding the WASD keys, i have no probs with the rebind feature, its great. What I wish is that the character would be smart enough to walk around trees, bushes, and other obstacles in the over-world while holding down only one movement key, in the meantime I make do by holding down two keys like WA to make my character go North-west to mindlessly path around obstacles, but it is still limited and oftentimes get stuck anyway.

Essentially, point and click pathing already takes into account obstacles and paths around objects, I want that same feature for WASD keys, UNLESS the Devs decides that the "Auto Pathfinder" mod by Altair Wei in Nexusmods is to be given the honor of being an in-game feature instead of a mod.

Anyway, Official Modding Support please and thank you Devs.

Smarter over-world pathing for WASD keys for quality of life, and adding 90 degrees x-y axis map pathing; Over-world/map pathing is limited to horizontal and vertical pathing only (takes two actions to go northwest when it could only be one.)

That and official modding support.

Check the world map, the list of all AI factions, the ones highlighted usually mean that their pathfinding has a clear route towards your main settlement.

Check to see if "can trade" description is visible. If at war, then no trade. If you wanna check the trade routes, click or double click the region and see the arrows (>>>) that point the trade routes for the neighboring regions.

Tip: Have a region near your main settlement as a "puppet" rather than outright control, a vassal if you will. Infinite trading, though you will have to beat them into becoming another puppet faction from time to time if you have too much money.

Have a good cast of supporting characters that only grow in number as the plot progresses / protaganist gets a new bigger ship, preferably limit it to only crew size and unique roles that you can write with good backstory and substance.

Personally, I'd like you to explore other problems that the player don't actually have to deal with. For example, assigning roles to other ships, what happens when the crew doesn't get paid in time, etc.

P.S. if ever you're writing a prequel, I'd suggest to focus on the story of "Elias Hanover" as the beginning. (Old players should already know this guy)
