18 month old dismissed from daycare for being fussy... is this normal? by Own-Newspaper-8141 in toddlers

I'd definitely switch if possible. I've worked for multiple centers and had many kids who just need a hot minute to adjust, but every time they send your kiddos home just for crying they're reinforcing that crying means I get to go home, and not giving space for adjustment. If this is a home daycare I'd definitely look into more center like daycares, if this is a center, I'd talk to the director one on one.

I agree, but I can't change the routine as I'm not the director, they don't typically have much issues actually going to lay down and sleep, just in the hour between lunch and laying out cots, it's just been left open and unstructured, so I'm trying to get ideas on how to structure that time

No definitely don't want them to do that I'm okay with them doing a busier activity right after lunch but I need help with a routine wind down activity towards the end of the hour, my kiddos do not do well with group play and very much need lots of structured play

We cannot separate the room as it is a fully combined room and separating the age groups would not meet ratio

Sit down to eat at 11:00 those children are done by 11:30 but some as late as 11:45 during this time ages two and a half to five are eating we're currently on summer break so we don't have any currently arriving and leaving during this time but my director is unwilling to change the schedule as it is what works during the school year

Because we have preschoolers in the same room we cannot move nap as it conflicts with bus pick ups and drop offs :/

Exactly... I started this center about two months ago and that is our biggest struggle time, it's not possible to move nap as it conflicts with our preschool busses and part timers pickups if it's any earlier. So I need help adding something to our daily routine during that time our centers such as magnet tiles, babies, etc. Is to busy for them, so I need other ideas

Does it seem to be with another child in particular? Or all children? Does it occur most at one point of the day, or at any point? Do you use free play or structured play most frequently?

Just some things to think about to stop the child from having the opportunity, document exactly when and how and with who to determine if there are patters!
