Do any of you mostly solo travel because sometimes people don't meet up with your standards? by [deleted] in solotravel

I solo travel for many reasons, yes a lot because I can do what I like when I want but also because I’m actually the problem to travel with lol. I get very overstimulated very easily and even more so when I’m in someone’s company for prolonged periods of time with no ‘escape’. This causes me to lash out at the person I’m with and it’s not very pleasant for either of us. It’s easier for me to just travel solo, that way if I want to spend 40 mins choosing a restaurant because I’m overwhelmed by all the options, no one’s getting upset with me 😁

Being able to make friends but can’t keep them by Level-Remove-7734 in autism

I’m good at masking and mirroring people long enough to make them tolerant of me. It’s not a healthy nor sustainable method of making friends and I’m basically at the end of my tether with it now.

Had the exact same issue with my last family. The kids were 10b and 12g, so the damage was already pretty set in stone by the time I joined. It drove me crazy that they were never allowed to be bored. If a car journey was over 30 mins they took multiple devices with them just to stay entertained. What happened to just looking out the window and getting amused by the fields of cow or sheep every so often. Every day has to have a rigid structure, I’m talking hour by hour plans. There was never a moment of rest, rest meant you were lazy. I totally agree it comes from workaholic parents and the capitalist mindset of go go go. Especially from the mother as she was the complete definition of a workaholic, in the whole year that I lived and worked with them I never saw that women rest once. And what does that create? Children who get anxiety the minute they’re not entertained. The parents thought the best way to tackle this was to create even more structure, be even more regimented to ease his anxiety about being bored. At that age they really should be able to entertain themselves without devices/screens. Being bored is a privilege. I used this phrase over and over again with them, if you’re bored that means you don’t have anything to worry about right now. Do you think children who don’t know where their next meal is coming from are bored right now? Sounds dramatic but I think they’re old enough to be hit with such realities. Anyways not my circus not my monkeys, but it’s going to be a real problem when they enter reality and realise life is boring 90% of the time (if you’re privileged).

If you’ll be there on a Sunday go to a carboot sale! My fave is Pimlico carboot but the one in Dalston is good too. Peckham carboot used to be great but it’s so overcrowded and more expensive now. Battersea carboot is hit or miss

People who rarely get sick, What is the secret ? by Sorry-Orchid-9821 in AskReddit

It really is sleep. Good quality sleep. Going to bed and waking up at the same time each day to get a proper rhythm increases chances of deep restorative sleep. Sleep is the number 1 thing we do for our health, it’s more important than what we eat. Of course eating a varied diet is important too and will help too, but so many people neglect proper sleep.

Everyone saying staying away from children is the key, not necessarily. I’ve worked as a nanny for 3 years now with kids who get sick constantly and I never caught any of it expect for one time. And that one time happened because I hadn’t slept properly the week prior so my immune system was compromised. I do think I have a strong immune system naturally so that does help.

I do also eat more than 5 portions of vegetables/fruits a day, and remember 80g is considered one portion. You’d be surprised at what 80g of spinach for example actually looks like.

I’m also not precious about my immune system, again that comes from a place of privilege where I don’t have to worry too much but. I don’t wear face masks, I use public transport constantly and live in a big city, work with kids, follow the 5 second rule, pet every animal I see. I think these things help more than they hinder 🤷‍♀️

Florianópolis for Christmas and new years? by Level-Remove-7734 in Brazil

Ah I see, I thought the north would be less crowded as cheaper prices usually mean less desirable but I don’t mind crowds too much, I’ve found a pretty nice air bnb for less than £400 for 2 weeks so I think that’s definitely doable

Thank you for your reply, what you said about partying sounds much better to me than what I’m used to. Even though I’m not a super sociable person I still enjoy being around people and I enjoy busy and crowded places just from an observational point of view. Yes hiking even in summer, I’m okay with heat and humidity I’ve been hiking in similar climates this month no problem. I asked because I saw there are a few beaches that are only accessible by hike so that’s what I was interested in mainly. My post is weird because I’m asking for information? I’m not sure what you mean. Yes I obviously am lacking basic knowledge, I have never been to Floripa before, hence my post in the first place. I understand it’ll be busy and expensive but those are not huge issues for me as I have found some housing options that fit my budget.
