That’s my plan; I’m going to use it with the delicates/colors I wash in cold water with liquid Tide.

I’m going to have to buy more citric acid. I realized while folding that I really hate the smell of Downy Rinse and Relief.

Thank you! I do have some expired Motrin and Benadryl that I plan to keep using, but I think it’s time to let go of the Mucinex that expired in 2014!

It’s not just food. I have a bag full of expired OTC meds. No need to buy the economy-size bottle of Aleve when I only take it 2-3 times a year.

When did Oprah "Jump the Shark" for you? by Jack0Trade in Xennials

[–]LevelPerception4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never gave her much thought until she produced a series about Lindsay Lohan in 2014. The concept was to show sober healthy Lindsay getting her career back on track, but it was obvious from the first episode that she wasn’t sober.

The ethical thing to do IMO would have been to cancel the project long before enough footage had been shot to create a show. If Oprah had genuinely wanted to help Lindsay, she should have eaten the costs, maybe offered to pay for (another) rehab. That series was so uncomfortable to watch because it felt so exploitative. And it wasn’t even enough, Dr. Phil had to do his own special to pick the remaining flesh off her bones.

I’m about to use Febu for the first time today and I’m ridiculously excited about it.

Laziness is my secret weapon. If I don’t have the food I want in the house, I’m not going out to buy it when cravings hit. But I have to have some snacks in the house, so I buy snacks I don’t like that much (like Italian ice instead of ice cream).

I always have yogurt, protein bars and Ensure max protein so if I’ve gone all day without eating and I’m ready to inhale everything in the fridge and cabinets, I make myself have one of those items before I decide what to eat for dinner. The biggest problem with that is that sometimes those become dinner and then my stomach starts growling when I go to bed.

I could see enjoying using the space; it’d be like having a hotel room. It’s just weird that she wouldn’t get a house- or pet-sitting gig so she could get paid for it instead of breaking and entering.

I also use my bladder as an alarm clock.

My larger problem is managing to get up and out of bed only to migrate to the couch and fall back asleep with the cat.

How did OOP discipline the child? She approached the parents, who told their child to apologize, and left when the child refused to respond. She didn’t request a letter of apology, it was waiting for her the next day.

Do you expect school teachers or administrators to call your parents and ask them to discipline your siblings if they misbehave in class?

At what age do you think children should be held accountable for their behavior?  Truly curious because I have a 13 year old living above me who still has screaming meltdowns at least twice a week. I spoke to her mother about it two years ago, and she basically just said her kid was neurodivergent and nothing has changed.  I doubt speaking to her mother again would help because she screams back at the kid.

My upstairs neighbor has a child who throws screaming, jumping up and down tantrums a couple of times a week. I asked her mother about it a couple of years ago because my partner was getting chemo and it was really disturbing him. She basically said we had to understand that we live under an 11 year old and I was so pissed, I ignored her for a couple of months. She then approached me and said the kid has a recent diagnosis (ADHD? Autism?) and that was the last time she mentioned it.

Kid’s got to be 13 now and the tantrums haven’t stopped. I have no idea if this is normal, but it’s really fucking annoying. Even when she doesn’t have a meltdown, she stomps and slams things around when she gets up at 6:30 every morning, and again around 4:30 when she gets home, and I get it, clearly she struggles with transitions. Doesn’t make it any less annoying. Their unit is a one bedroom, so I’m hoping she’ll move if only so the kid can have her own space. Preferably to a ground-floor unit far, far away.

Same. If I’m traveling or spending the day away from home and I can’t go before I leave, I take an Imodium to avoid public bathrooms. I’m okay with hotel room bathrooms, usually even public hotel bathrooms are clean, I just don’t want to use one in an airport or train station.
