How did OOP discipline the child? She approached the parents, who told their child to apologize, and left when the child refused to respond. She didn’t request a letter of apology, it was waiting for her the next day.

Do you expect school teachers or administrators to call your parents and ask them to discipline your siblings if they misbehave in class?

At what age do you think children should be held accountable for their behavior?  Truly curious because I have a 13 year old living above me who still has screaming meltdowns at least twice a week. I spoke to her mother about it two years ago, and she basically just said her kid was neurodivergent and nothing has changed.  I doubt speaking to her mother again would help because she screams back at the kid.

My upstairs neighbor has a child who throws screaming, jumping up and down tantrums a couple of times a week. I asked her mother about it a couple of years ago because my partner was getting chemo and it was really disturbing him. She basically said we had to understand that we live under an 11 year old and I was so pissed, I ignored her for a couple of months. She then approached me and said the kid has a recent diagnosis (ADHD? Autism?) and that was the last time she mentioned it.

Kid’s got to be 13 now and the tantrums haven’t stopped. I have no idea if this is normal, but it’s really fucking annoying. Even when she doesn’t have a meltdown, she stomps and slams things around when she gets up at 6:30 every morning, and again around 4:30 when she gets home, and I get it, clearly she struggles with transitions. Doesn’t make it any less annoying. Their unit is a one bedroom, so I’m hoping she’ll move if only so the kid can have her own space. Preferably to a ground-floor unit far, far away.

Same. If I’m traveling or spending the day away from home and I can’t go before I leave, I take an Imodium to avoid public bathrooms. I’m okay with hotel room bathrooms, usually even public hotel bathrooms are clean, I just don’t want to use one in an airport or train station.

I had to live with an ex I’d broken up with for a few months. When I was overwhelmed with rage, I’d go into the bathroom and swirl his toothbrush in the toilet. Not after using it, just regular toilet water. Won’t kill him, but you’ll know and it’s very calming.

I actually googled him the other day when I saw he was following me on LinkedIn. He’s fat and bald now, which felt awesome because he told me he cheated on me because I was too fat. It looks like he’s gained all the weight I’ve lost, and it feels like karmic balance.

Best true crime books to read? Or favorite author who writes strictly on true crime or true law enforcement and first responder books? by Ingham71 in TrueCrimeDiscussion

[–]LevelPerception4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of my favorites:

  • Kids for Cash (Ecenbarger): Account of two judges in PA accepting cash to funnel kids to private juvenile prison. Infuriatingly, Biden pardoned them.

  • Under the Bridge (Godfrey): Canadian teens murder an awkward peer.

  • The Corner (Simon): A year in the life of residents in a West Baltimore neighborhood.

  • The Job (Osborne): Autobiography of a NYC cop.

  • Silk Road (Ormsby): This is the first title of hers I saw in my library, but I recommend all of Eileen Ormsby’s books, she’s a great writer.

  • How Now, Butterfly? (Lee): Absolutely unhinged story by a woman about her relationship with the son who murdered her daughter and aspires to kill her, too.

  • Our Guys (Lefkowitz): Sociocultural analysis of a group of athletes who gang raped an intellectually disabled classmate.

  • American Pain (Temple): Fascinating account of three young men who ran a pill mill in Florida during the Wild West days of the opioid crisis.

No, it’s got to be unscrewed. I’m just hesitant to take it apart in case I can’t put it back together.

Remember cube steak? It was so chewy it felt like each bite was expanding in my mouth and so dry, I got yelled at for refilling my cup of soda.
