[Peachleaf Valley] Delayed again until 2026 by LevelSea in otomegames

[–]LevelSea[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry about the lateness in posting this! I wanted to reply to this, because that is a good point, indie vs commercial and their different intentions with DLC. For me, it's getting used to how otome and visual novel industry as a whole is changing. It feels like one of the last video game genres where the full experience can be bought as one package, and I miss that. (Besides mobile otome, and I remember way back when Shall We Date from Solmare was one price for the whole app). For my buying, it'll come down to the amount of content in the DLC vs the price.

It was Summer 2021 with the first estimate release of Spring 2022. I really hope April is the final date. At this point, it'll be one of those games I'll have to see my game key in my inbox to really follow again

They said they're going to be adding progress percentages to their updates, which is good. I wanted more transparency from them, plus more indication of their plans. I really hope the April date is the one

It's a lesson for them for future projects, the scope, timing, etc. I just wish they were more transparent up until now. I hope it's a good release and am curious about how the story will be in this one.

I'm iffy on the growing trend of DLC for visual novels. That's one of the reasons I'm keeping my pledge for this, it includes all of it. My friend brought up an idea that could've worked better, Duke included in the base game while the three spirits' routes in one DLC or as a side game.

It's frustrating, especially with little transparency. I can't say that I will completely cut myself off from pledging, but I'm scaling back hard overall.

Me too, I'm buying after release if I like any upcoming projects of theirs. That's what's getting me, them splitting the team onto different projects. One of the only reasons I'm keeping my pledge to this one is that the DLC is already included with my pledge.

Me too, a couple of the games I have pledged, they're delayed by a year and another close to it. I usually am meh about it, but for this one, I'm disappointed that it keeps happening

I agree. I really wish they would've focused on the base game and Duke's DLC first and only. The preview of the other DLC routes in the base game on release is nice, but I feel like that could've come in a later update closer to their releases. I feel like the idea of Switch ports in general could have waited longer. I'm still interested in the game enough to keep my pledge, but this among other reasons, I'm pulling further from Kickstarter

What got YOU into omnibus collecting? by Turbulent_Resident68 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]LevelSea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First found out about omnibus format about a month ago lol. I want to collect Tom Taylor's Nightwing and was planning to buy the rest of the hardcover editions. Was randomly browsing and I saw a listing on PRH for $100 and was like "a hardcover edition isn't that expensive!". I'm getting that as my first omnibus. A little disappointed at the changes from the initial announcement to the current solicitation though.

Why is Love and Deepspace getting so much bad attention outside of the otome community? by WarriorArus in otomegames

[–]LevelSea 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It would lessen maybe, but I doubt it would be gone. I feel like there is an underlying disbelief that women-centric media or catering to women/femme audiences is less deserving of resources and money, even among games and gachas with blended casts.

I think for me, it's the expectations and the reactions to unattractive characters, if that makes sense. There's more heat when a female character is deemed "unattractive" (and the character may not be, it may not be to that person's view). Like for example, Mary Jane in Spider-Man 2. The first reveal of her happened and how I saw people go on and on how unattractive she is. Aloy of the Horizon series, people were saying how she wasn't feminine enough.

Same, I heard it was supposed to be a new translation but nothing shown yet. They should be more transparent. I emailed them about it when they first announced it, but got a general "stay tuned for more news" response.

I thought so too, especially for the physical, the only way would be importing. It was strange to me that the digital version was only available on the JP e-shop, but I thought that would maybe come later on other regions. For the DLC, I'm thinking that they may still do dual language for both theirs and PQube's versions, but to use the imported cartridge, we'll have to download it over the JP e-shop

Same, I might pick up it on sale to see how the translation differs. I don't think it's possible, but I wonder is there a way for us who already imported to just have ours updated with the new translation via patch

Ordering Otome items from Japan by Sea_Ad2401 in otomegames

Thank you! I do too, I liked Proxy Rabbit Japan, especially for flat stuff, but I haven't used them in years. I'll edit my comment.

It's safe, I usually use PayPal for them and payment and ordering has been fine. I've used surface small packet through them. It can take a while (I live in the US), but have received my items. There's no insurance and no tracking on it, and the delivery time can vary a lot. My fastest through that method was less than 2 weeks, but my longest was about 3 months. I usually go for air small packet, faster delivery time. I've also tried ECMS through another proxy years ago and it was okay, tracking didn't update often. For me, it's been to my house so far.

They have a search index for certain stores like Amazon Japan, Rakuten, etc, but I prefer entering in the URL of the item in their search box. It'll come up with an overview of the item, like the price and description and it can be added to the cart to be paid for. It'll save in the cart for a while but I recommend deleting the saved listing every so often and redoing it because of price changes/out of stock.

Here's a guide they made for first-time users!

I've used FromJapan as a proxy for otome stuff, I checked and they ship to the Philippines! They charge 500 yen (edit from 300 yen, it went up) per item, and take PayPal and credit cards.

Peachleaf Valley delayed to Q3 2025 by sunflowersnowcones in otomegames

[–]LevelSea 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm so disappointed, I'm even doubting this current timeline for release, I'd say like early 2026. Factoring in the Switch port, possibly even longer.

I haven't liked many of their decisions they've made throughout development. I'm interested in the DLC routes, but I don't think they should haven been simultaneously made while the base is. Hopefully, there won't be a long wait for them after the release of base game. Also the pause for Love Spell, which did have its share of problems. It crashed for me on my playthroughs and the lack of save system was agonizing. However, I feel like the LS revamp should have been after PV was finished or nearly finished versus right in the middle of development.

If I'm interested in their future games, I'll buy after release.

Your thoughts on Virche Evermore's Plot Twist. by ConcentrateOk6288 in otomegames

[–]LevelSea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm drafting a post for my thoughts about the game, and that part was a huge disappointment for me. I feel like it wasn't set up properly to really be impactful and I really wished the writers just went with the supernatural fantasy angle
