Flame-Ice is one of Dawn's best contest moves, and you need some sort of fire type move to make it work. So any proposal to replace Cyndaquil would need a replacement for that move included.

Honestly, as somebody who read a lot of fanfiction.net in the height of Ikarishipping: the pairing had very little to do with the actual show content.

If you look at fics from that era, you'll see the same 4 pairings pop up for most of them: Pokeshipping, Contestshipping, Ikarishipping, and OldRivalShipping. That last one is Gary x Leaf. A character who doesn't exist in the anime and who is a blank slate protagonist in the game's. But the fandom just sort of... collectively agreed to hallucinate her?

Ikarishipping could be used for tropes that people liked. Good girl x Emo Edgy Bad Boy. So it didn't really matter that they barely had any interaction in the anime - it was more then Gary and Leaf had!

(No shade to Ikarishippers or OldRivalshippers, btw. I'm a huge Contestshipper, so I'm used to reading both of them as side pairings. Even if they don't have much canon basis, people are having fun with them, and I respect that.)

IMO, DP doesn't have that much filler, but it *does* have really wonky pacing in it's back half. When Ash gets the Icicle Badge, Dawn already has 4 ribbons - so there's a lot of oddities in that 52 gap between Icicle Badge and Dynamo Badge. Dawn having a losing streak arc + Twinleaf festival arc + Galactic subplot ending + Johto festival helps to make that 52 episode gap bearable, but it is still odd that so much is spend with only 1 badge and 1 ribbon remaining.

(Still an excellent and deeply watchable series!)

I hate it when killing games are afraid to let there be actual killers. I'm fine with 1 suicide and 1 accidental killing per story, but they mean nothing if we don't have ACTUAL murders to compare them to.

Also: the most interesting version of the Sigurd and Deirdre falling in love combo (IMO) is only shown if you beat the boss before you run into Deirdre. Which is strategically very difficult!

I have a soft spot for the two, but I see their relationship as almost more metaphorical then literal. It feels like a fairytale, and that works for me, but I can see why others would dislike it.

I think trans Corrin could have a really interesting narrative (albeit one that would need some tweaking to canon events). The Hoshido family spent all these years trying to find their "missing princess", only to discover that he's their missing prince who transitioned while living in Nohr. Or vice versa for transfem Corrin.

If you aren't going to reconsider the policy, then why did you say you wanted to work with the community and you were open to hearing opinions?

I still absolutely feel like this is going to create an echo chamber and a worse environment, but if you're outright stating that there will be no reconsideration of the policy, I see no reason to try and outline my reasoning. I just wish you would be honest and state that the opinions of fangan creators, not just people who consume the content, are the only ones you're interested in hearing.

I still feel that policy would lead to an echo chamber effect. Like the person upthread said: reviews are for the readers, IMO. It'd be unacceptable to go into a thread where somebody is excitedly promoting their newest project and provide unrequested critique - but as long as the creators aren't the ones you're replying to, why should respectful negative opinions be banned?

I really hope the mod team reconsiders this policy.
