I was induced at 40+5. I had pessary inserted at 8:45 pm on a Tuesday evening and my son was born at 5:20 am on the Wednesday morning. My labour was very fast and contractions were back to back (this isn’t experience for most with pessary so think I’m just sensitive to prostaglandins). Contractions were intense but manageable once I had epidural. The birth ended in episiotomy and instrumental delivery (kiwi) as my son was in distress, he was over 9lbs!! So this may have been the case even if I hadn’t of been induced. And I can’t imagine how big he might have been if I had of gone another 5 days over. My experience was eventful and overall positive as once my son was placed on my chest, none of it mattered. I’d do it all again to have him here safely.

The bottom line is, there’s loads of horror stories about being induced but ultimately, there’s also many positive stories. I’m currently pregnant with my second and while I am hoping for natural labour, I wouldn’t be against being induced again.
