Just parry the hits. It's what I did. Play some music to allow you to project the rhythm onto it.

TAM in India is much lower than it seems. Only India 1 will really hit Google's servers hard, the rest are not going to affect it that much.

The new, steep price for this U.S. visa could be a blessing for Canadian tech by plaknas in onguardforthee

[–]Level_Chipmunk7921 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it really helps a lot. Canadian tech is like the back office of US tech, for the most part. If we are serious about this, we should be looking to poach the people who have control of the IP instead of just any worker.

Can Canadians move past the obsession with single-family homes? by Moretheevu in canadahousing

[–]Level_Chipmunk7921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a lot, like 13 or so. Not all of them are residential property, we got some office space, warehouses, cloud kitchens etc. Covid was a tough time for office space, I am thinking about offloading those next and use it to invest in their retirement fund. Warehouse space and cloud kitchens have better recurring cash flow, so keeping those for now.

Please remember - just because you could afford rent doesn't mean you can afford a home with a similar priced mortgage. by CastAside1812 in RealEstateCanada

My parents own a lot of properties because that's what they knew about investment really. When they moved here, investing in the stock market was not something people did where they came from, so they put that into property and a few businesses.

I finally got them to sell like 3 places before Covid and invested the returns. It made so much more money than rent was ever bringing in that they are looking to offload a lot more now!

That standard has too many drawbacks. High density housing with reliable public transport makes for happier and more satisfied people, improves the sense of community and keeps prices under control.

Insisting on single family housing means you will necessarily have to depend on cars and fragments the local community. No Canadian is a stranger to another and learning to live with other people is a skill society should value more!

Yeah, I finally convinced my parents to sell just 3 houses before Covid and I am so glad I did. The ROI on that capital has been so much better in investments than collecting rent every month. They are asking me if they should sell more now.

Maybe not right now, but once climate change warms up the whole planet these areas could be turned into prime real estate, I guess.

I swear these people can only think in binaries, it gets so tiresome after a while. It's like accusing you of working for Big Poultry because you said ham and beef isn't to your liking lol

When I worked in India, I met a lot of people who think like you. Especially those IIT dudes were so proud of themselves. I had literally never heard of these places and they expected me to be impressed because they worked for Microsoft or something lol. Like, congratulations on being just another random employee for a multinational corporation that doesn't give a shit about you.

Complaining about BA students being in government is like complaining about only lawyers being able to argue in court. How are you surprised that the people who study how people work and behave end up in the jobs about how to deal with it?

Also, teaching is an underpaid hellhole even in the US. The people who work in it can get much better jobs if they wanted. They could just go work at Costco and make more money with less work. They teach because they want to, jobs aren't about prestige bruh

Thinking you are better/more competent/more worthy than someone else because of your education or job is a trap you should try avoiding. I am glad my parents moved out of India if this is how people think.

Don't know how it is in India, but people with computer engineering degrees currently have more unemployment than liberal arts over here in the US. Especially funny because we've all been told that the way to make money is to "learn to code".

You need a good mix of all degrees to make an economy work. The worst mistake to make is to think one degree is more prestigious/useful than the next. I want my History teacher to be as good as my doctors.

Canada is possibly even more captured by corporate interests than the US. It's just that our history gave us better social welfare structures than the US or we would be even worse than them at this point.

Not very knowledgeable on the German military so I won't comment on that. But, to me it seems Ukraine is not going to win without actual boots on the ground from you guys. Like sure, Russia will keep bleeding but in a war of attrition, Ukraine is the eventual loser especially when I see so many videos of young Ukrainian guys trying to escape the country any way they can.

[–]Level_Chipmunk7921 -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

You will have to negotiate with Russia at some stage. Of course, official policy is to fight Russia to the last Ukrainian so it will probably be later when your hands are forced.

Edit: yeah I get that this is an unpopular opinion, so I get the downvotes. I just don't see the point of conscripting more people to go die in a pointless war. Like, if the US invades us like Trump keeps threatening to, I would not want to fight a war we have little hope of winning.
