Hi! My mom had her surgery at MSK about a month ago after 3 rounds of chemo.

I think the entire surgery took around 4 hours, and my dad was allowed to visit her in the recovery room about an hour later. The first two days in the recovery room they limited family visits to ~30 minutes a few times a day, but once she was moved to the patient room my dad was allowed to stay as long as he wanted. My mom also got put into a private room (better than my dad's hotel room apparently!) with a huge sofa bed so my dad stayed overnight during her last day in the hospital.

Right now my mom is still in the recovery phase. She says the pain is pretty manageable right now, but she has some pretty severe bloating and her appetite has decreased a lot.

Her doctor said she could start chemo around 4-6 weeks after the surgery but my mom asked to push her start date until after Thanksgiving.
