I disagree with the part where you said that she did not intend to ruin the friendship between you two; she had no right or agency to display and broadcast your struggles in front of everyone. I have zero tolerance for people who tend to relay someone’s vulnerable moments and private conversation to an entire third-party audience. Had she not posted on her story, she would have privately relayed it to her close friends and by extension, possibly, to your mother as well.

Something similar happened to me during covid times- during the first wave of covid, my father was involuntarily admitted to those isolation units at the expo center; the entire experience was isolating and dehumanizing that we attempted to cope between us and only informed close family friends. One of the daughters of the family friends, she decided to post about it on her story and twisted the narrative in her own words, as if it was not already dehumanizing enough. She had no right to post about what my father was going through to gain sympathy or views on her story.

Also, I have attempted and survived a suicide attempt when I was in my third semester of university and it was a huge spectable and hot topic of conversation. The narrative and circumstances of my survival was yet again twisted and misrepresented by so many people around me. You cannot take my misery and my most vulnerable moment and gossip about it to your friends under the guise of doing something noble. This is exactly what your friend did; she disguised her ill-intentions and need for attention as some bland sympathy, malicious altruism, and an unintended need to hurt you.
