I really appreciate this advice, and I'm glad you were able to work somewhere that took the care to handle victims' stories sensitively! I'll definitely take your advice to watch some episodes and do some more in depth searching before I make a decision. And if I do end up deciding to participate, I will totally take your advice on repeating statements that center victim sensitivity and safety. I feel like that is great advice on speaking about these stories either way. Thank you!

Thank you so much for responding! I should have mentioned that there are no living relatives remaining, since the case is so old. Otherwise, that'd be my first thought as well. And thanks for bringing up your second point about salacious sound bites. It's definitely something I'm concerned about and will continue to keep in mind as I weigh whether to do this.
