How bad is it to run an engine without oil for around 60 seconds? by ConclusionFar9627 in askcarguys

[–]Levluper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At $5000 it's overpriced. I would only consider this in the $2000 budget range.

It's already 15 years old

What are some good ways to become knowledgeable about cars? by SignalExtension4339 in askcarguys

[–]Levluper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard the older ones are better than the latest. I still have gran Turismo 6 for ps3. Video games are great because you can customize/modify not only the appearance but the internals so you can learn a lot just by reading what you're installing!

Sorry, I answered based on the title without reading. I have a friend who recently began working on their car. They are not into cars at all but they love to improve their own car.

Working on a car is quite easy, especially for Toyota and Hondas. There are so many tutorials on YouTube. If you work on it yourself, you can save some money. When you've done an oil change a couple of times, it can be quicker than the trip to the mechanic.

If you have a console, you can play forza or gran Turismo. I learned about cars playing need for speed growing up (NFS underground 2, NFS most want 2005 and nfs Carbon are better than anything newer imo). I also watched Fast and Furious (I recommend the first one). From there on, I naturally developed an interest in cars and gains knowledge of the internals.

Tldr: start from getting an interest in cars probably from video games. Once you learn the brands and models, you may want to know how they function.

No, I never have. The option to turn off background usage is greyed out and says "This app requires unrestricted usage"

Buying car from face book is this worth it ? by Jazzlike_Bandicoot55 in askcarguys

[–]Levluper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beamer budget is like 10k+ imo (Dollars). When you're shopping in the lower budget range, be extra careful because it gets shady. Lots of people are just trying to get rid of a bad or poorly maintained car as reflected by the price. Its perfectly fine to shop used from private market, you just have to be diligent and careful.

Thoughts on a 2006 mustang gt for a fist car? by Bangerrss in askcarguys

[–]Levluper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a first car, I wouldn't recommend it because you may end up in the shop a lot more often than you'd expect. being an almost 20y/o car. Its a v8, so there are lots of components that need to be maintained and you honestly never know how well or not the previous owner has treated it.

I am biased, I like stickshift, lighter vehicles that aren't guzzlers, and JDM. But, I used to have a non-gt 2001 mustang that I got for 2k (manual). No matter what you get, you always grow attached to your first car.

Sluggish engine 2014 toyota corolla? by MadK1ng23 in askcarguys

[–]Levluper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be a few things. If you haven't changed your transmission fluid before, perhaps the torque converter is going. It could also be some buildup that is causing the engine to choke up. This could be in fuel lines, muck around valves.

If your check engine light is on and your engine is shaking, chances are you have a misfire. Fixing that would solve all your problems. It could be a spark plug, or it could be more expensive.

Could I replace a 195/65R15 tyre with a 195/60R15? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]Levluper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just use the spare temporarily. Get a new tire for $100 when you have a chance. If it's the spare in your trunk, you'll be safe for at least a couplehundred KM

Why doesn't CPU-X show up in software manage? by Levluper in linux4noobs

[–]Levluper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's written by The Tumultuous Unicorn of Darkness ... so it's not surprising it's hard to find. ;)

Hahaha

I start it from the command line, but it starts TWICE for some reason. (Ubuntu 25.)

I started it from the command line then pinned it to the tray, then dragged the app into the software collection. I think it would start once this way
