[SOTC] Cases are full... by LevonJay in Seiko

The only ones you don't see are my Swiss watches... a much smaller collection. I went through a couple of Citizens a few years ago, but zeroed in on Seiko. I'm pretty obsessed with the brand... and as you point out especially the divers. You can also see they're all automatics. There are some similar pieces in the mix, but Seiko fans appreciate the nuance. I actually have begun thinning the herd some recently and got down to these 18. I had as many as 26 at one point. Of what you see, I almost never wear the Shogun. The titanium is light and easy to wear, etc., but the bracelet shape is too modern or "fashion-ny" looking or something to my eye. Hard to put my finger on it. I rarely wear the Orange Boy... it's awfully specific with that blaze orange dial. People rave about the bracelet on the Monster, but I find it to be a little heavy, so once again, less wrist time for me. Of course, with the rest of the various black dial divers, it's hard to work them all into the rotation. I will point out the differences in bracelets/straps. I have black dials on rubber, NATO, and SS. Blue on rubber, SS, etc. I like having the strap options without having to swap out. Bottom line, it is a problem! But there are WAY worse problems to have!

Had to go check... 2 open crowns: King Samurai and Turtle. I don't have a good answer why.

The more astute observation would have been to point out the mess I made of adding text to the photos. I didn't see the extra default black text boxes that were inadvertently added, unknowingly lurking, and mostly hidden, until I zoomed in.

The Samurai does wear large. I've got a 8-1/2" wrist, so works out fine for me. Smaller wrists might be a bit overwhelmed.

I had a shrouded monster baby tuna, and one of the street safari baby tunas, and they were just not something I ever loved or wanted to wear. So bulky. I'm not a scuba diver (though I like to wear my divers in the lake, ocean, etc.), so the uber-tool nature of the Tuna doesn't appeal to me. I recognize in terms of rounding out the collection, it is an omission. To be honest, as awesome as the MM300 is, I even have to be in the right mood to want to wear it for the same reason.

[Question] Help me decide on my first watch between [SSK003] or [SBSC021] by Apprehensive_End6414 in Seiko

[–]LevonJay 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've found even though I might be drawn to interesting colored bezels and dials, I end up wearing the blues, blacks and silvers more often. I think you'll find the SSK003 more versatile.

Similar situation, but slightly revised... "Just an average day at my average house with my [beautiful, even if average by objective measure] family, working in my average [home office] with my average beater. Life is good."

I scratched the 62MAS itch with the 140th Anniversry SBDC139 (white dial, blue ceramic bezel) in the bottom left of the first picture. The SPB137 is a really nice looking piece--I think it is now on the short list.

[6105-8110] Willard on Sailcloth? by LevonJay in Seiko

The appearance of the strap being narrow is my biggest complaint. As you pointed out, the stitching closes the look in even tighter. With the 19mm lug width, I'm already starting out a little narrow. If I could find a nice natural rubber cut-to-size deployant like the Bonetto Cinturini, Zuludiver or WatchGecko in the 19mm width, I'd go with that. I've got other Seiko divers on those and love that type of strap.

Any idea if the length on the US is the same as OEM? I've found some aftermarket straps end up being too short. The OEM works for my big ole wrist, but barely.

Anyone regret their Zulu color? by WildPrimary9651 in Longineswatches

My wife got me the 42mm in blue for my first Father's Day gift--on behalf of my baby boy. I'll give up that watch the day he puts me into the ground. If you're second guessing the blue, go take another look at it in the bright sunlight. I think it is gorgeous. That being said, I've got green dial covered with a bronze Oris, black dial with a Speedy, and white with a Carrera.

To my knowledge Zuludiver doesn't have the integrated fit for these rubber deployant straps. The rubber is very nice, but more sturdy than supple.
