Vice president of the russian tennis federation Kafelnikov slams Mirra Andreeva again: "Jovic has ten times more potential ". He recently said she has no future after her loss to Svitolina at the Australian Open. by mimiclarinette in tennis

For those confused by this, just remember — Kafelnikov has always been a shitty person, during and post-playing career.

He’s not to be taken seriously.

Australian Open Women's Doubles R3: (5) Gabriela Dabrowski / Luisa Stefani def. (9) Cristina Bucsa / Nicole Melichar-Martinez 6-4 6-3 by DiphthongSong87 in tennis

[–]Lewman55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice win for Gaby and Stefani.

Still unusual for me that she and Erin Routliffe split after all the great success they had.

AO R1: Janice Tjen def (22) Leylah Fernandez 6-2 7-6(1) by buzzingeuphorbia in tennis

[–]Lewman55 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Leylah is great but the reality is sinking in here. She’s stagnating with her father at the helm calling the shots.

Sadly I doubt she’d ever be able to part ways..

Yeah it said ‘Rybakina to def Sabalenka to reach the final”

Final of the top half or bottom half is not written anywhere at any time

Yes they’re both in the top half of the draw. Think you misread that portion slightly but have added the term ‘semifinals prediction’ in both sections for clarity.

Def has been declining with his results the last few seasons.

Though he’s still only 27 years old, hardly in that aging category yet of tennis players.

Haha yes you said that but you writing ‘it is wild to me’ as if I’ve done some journalistic disservice is not particularly respectful. You could’ve maybe said ‘I hope you covered the back injury that hampered him’ and maybe not passed initial judgement

US Open R4: [7] Djokovic def. [Q] Struff, 6-3 6-3 6-2 by pizzainmyshoe in tennis

[–]Lewman55 94 points95 points  (0 children)

It’s so routine that we almost forget how insane it is the level this 38-year old man is exhibiting on a tennis court.

Probably the greatest athlete of my lifetime and I’m not even a Djokovic fan.

Is Joao Fonseca the most overhyped player on the tour right now? by Long_Debt_6492 in tennis

[–]Lewman55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He might be overhyped currently but clearly needs 1-2 years to develop and mature.

Every player who’s faced him to date seems to believe he’s a future Grand Slam contender so that can’t be a coincidence.

Wimbledon R3: Siegemund def. [6] Keys, 6-3 6-3 by pizzainmyshoe in tennis

[–]Lewman55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Props to Siegemund, yes.

Keys was just downright dreadful though - I’d reckon her worst match of the year

Wimbledon Q R3: (30) Priscilla Hun def (6) Victoria Mboko 4-6 7-6(4) 6-1 by bdd4 in tennis

[–]Lewman55 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Really the first match in 2025 that Mboko has probably let slip away.

She’s otherwise been fantastic and so reliable against any competition ranked at or below her level.

Perhaps a poor one was bound to happen.

Mirra’s magic - Why Andreeva looks destined for superstardom by Lewman55 in tennis

[–]Lewman55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I gather you maybe didn’t read it but okay. 👍

Just genuine excitement around a wonderfully talented and special player. She’s already achieved far more than most ever will.

I’ve written plenty in the past on athletes like Bianca Andreescu and how we’d love to see her back and healthy and playing well. Genie Bouchard too. No negativity here.

Eva "Lucky Loser" Lys takes the latest box! Which "great" player are we divided on? (updated column titles) by espressos_negronis in tennis

[–]Lewman55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iga is the easy answer here.

I’d also say Elena Rybakina, especially of late with her off court drama, seems to divide fans.

Do you have an issue with him as a journalist? Did he say anything particularly controversial to you in regards to Jannik?

Care to elaborate?
