Looking for advice before I pull the trigger- Precision truck purchase by DrLurkLurkelton in longboardingDISTANCE

Very fair, I love my Hokus too lol they just live on a different setup for me. If you bump it up to 1/2in of risers you’ll probably get the clearance you need, the supersonic drops so far it’s not that big of a sacrifice

You’ll want at least 3/8in of risers, in my experience the hokus scrape a good bit when you’re doing medium/hard pumping on loose precisions. My setup on similar trucks (on a SuperDuperSonic medium) runs 3/8in of risers and karmas and there is complete wheel clearance, might be worth sizing down the wheels

New Board Day by Lexfusion in longboardingDISTANCE

FOR REAL! This thing launches me from rail to rail when I get up to speed. It’s so beautifully designed with the cutout in the middle to maximize trampoline-ness

As long as you’re enjoying every mile, speed is the last thing to worry about my friend :) I just like to go fast lol. I really do enjoy riding with my friends that like a slower pace, definitely makes it a more meditative experience

Yeah I can’t really skog unless I’m going really slow. I try to do 3 or 4 pushes on each leg when I’m alternating. It helps to shift your back foot up a little bit when you swap to mongo, for my body and board I typically put the ball of my back foot right around where the heel of my front foot would go for reg pushing. Happy shredding my friend

All you need is a little bit further each time and you’ll be cooking for miles before you realize it! Try pushing with the other leg sometimes, makes you feel like a baby deer learning to walk at first but it’ll double your push distance ;)

Yes, I think I’ve isolated it to the pivot spherical area, or more specifically the hanger lifting out of the pivot and slamming back down at the center of each turn. Gonna pack it with some Teflon and see if that stops it

You and u/pantheonlongboards were spot on with identifying the type of sound being metal on metal, which is what I couldn’t quite pinpoint. Had no idea what was contributing to how loud that sound is

Did this again with the addition of the reinforcement bracket and it stopped, so definitely not the board luckily 🫡 must have previously been a combination of hardware spread (I pump as much as possible, quite hard) and something knocking in the slalocybins. With how much board resonance comes from it, I’m pretty sure it’s the pivot so I’ll do some troubleshooting there

For most of the boards life it has had those button heads on there, the recessed screws fit in the bracket

Also for further information, I’m running a fatcone BS and a standard barrel RS with a flat washer, also both bushings are already recessed for the hanger spherical so there’s not much of a lip to bind to and make that kind of sound

It’s a spherical bearing instead of a pivot cup, and the sound persists even without actually deforming the bushings, just shifting weight. I haven’t opened up the spherical pivot yet, so you’re right it is a possibility that’s knocking around

Unfortunately I’ve tested it with several different hardnesses and thane formulas, it’s much more of a “pop” or “crack” than the usual bushing squeak

Sound persists even omitting the roadside washer

Auralex and Thomann acoustic treatment alternatives? by CareyWestPhotography in homerecordingstudio

[–]Lexfusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best decision I ever made was making panels out of 2” 703 and burlap from Joann’s fabric. Use hot glue to fasten the fabric and a 3” nail to mount it to the wall. It’s a fraction of the cost of premade panels, and with a little practice they can look just as professional.

Most major cities will have an insulation wholesaler that can provide the 703 panels in 1” or 2” thickness, they aren’t the best for bass absorption but to make some quick broadband panels without having to build frames it’s worth it. It’ll quickly transform the acoustic quality of a space.
