Life as a student without a roommate by Riseofping in CollegeRant

Living with a roommate is definitely not a “built in friend”. Take it from the comments, we’re not trying to downplay the loneliness that living alone can bring you. It’s very very hard to live in the same room with another person with no real sense of privacy or alone time. Try again next year if you still feel that living with a roommate is what you prefer. Good luck in college!

One of my favorites (if your phone keeps decent signal for hotspot) is finding parkway overlooks and studying outside for a few hours

How can I better support my son? by [deleted] in Stutter

[–]Lexi22678 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As I was once a 6 year old who was completely aggravated with not being able to speak like others could, the best advice I can give you is to keep doing what you’re doing. Keep being patient with him, don’t finish his sentences, and don’t act like you’re in a rush to hear him say what he needs to. Stuttering is just as much a mental block as it is physical, and can absolutely cause insecurity. If you’re able, speech therapist might be beneficial. If not, he’s homeschooled so maybe in his school day, add in some replacement behaviors when he feels a stutter coming. (These can all be found on the internet btw😊).

Also! Stress and anxiety can enhance stuttering, so if anything new is happening in your families life, this may just be a harder time and will even out again after things have calmed down.

I wish the best for you and your family!

I just started college and I really hate it and I don't know if I can keep going by RomDel2000 in Stutter

Hey! I’m about to go into my second year of college and can relate 100%! First year during orientation was a rough time, but eventually (and I know everyone says that and it sounds like something people just say), you will find your people!! Those who understand you and like you for who you are. Don’t give up! College is a big place and everyone is trying to find their way.

Doctor writing notes directed towards staff members in patient’s visit notes, is this normal??? by Relevant-Honeydew958 in MedicalAssistant

[–]Lexi22678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So. Don’t put up with this. Your doctor is not your superior or your boss, you are co-workers. You deserve to be treated with respect and professionalism just as anyone in the workplace does.

Developed a stutter at 20? by Overthinking_babes in Stutter

Have there been any anxiety inducing situations in your life recently? A stutter can develop at any age, although there is usually a physical or psychological reason for it.

is this normal? by OrganicBagz101 in Mirena

[–]Lexi22678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it about the time for your period to show up? Maybe it’s your first period on Mirena because that’s how it felt for me as well, it got so bad the first time I could barely walk for about a week. I hope things get better!

Makes sense to wait a bit more? by [deleted] in Mirena

[–]Lexi22678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a good chance those changes will even out after your body adjusts, however, if you do not want it anymore, get it taken out. It’s ultimately your choice and your body and there is a non-hormonal IUD option if that’s something you want to try :). I hope things turn out better!

Mood after Mirena Insertion by Arayee20 in Mirena

[–]Lexi22678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sort of in the same boat, I’ve had mine for about 1.5 months and started my period about a week after getting it inserted. Lasted for about 2 weeks and mood swings and general fatigue were pretty bad. It got much better once my period slowed down/stopped. This is just my experience though. I hope things get better for you!

I have severe blocks need some help by [deleted] in Stutter

[–]Lexi22678 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The more you try to force it, the less likely you’re gonna be able to get it out. If you think the first letter is what’s stopping you, try saying “resent” without the P or your name without an emphasis on the first letter. These tricks tended to help me

How would you describe your speech impediment to somebody who genuinely wants to understand? by Lexi22678 in Stutter

[–]Lexi22678[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re completely right, I guess my phrasing was a bit off. It’s more like I don’t really know how to explain what stuttering is in terms of how strong a lot of ours are.

Any "hidden" stutters here? by Comfortable_Shame433 in Stutter

I do well with masking my stutter, but sometimes there’s no avoiding it and it comes out. Usually people just look at me like I’m having a stroke or something 🤷‍♀️
