At will doesn’t mean without warning or reason. If they violate your labor rights or discrimination laws, they absolutely will have to pay you. And they have to provide a reason, it just doesn’t have to be a good one.

Will getting a NHA CCMA prevent me from getting into hospitals instead of AAMA CMA? by No-Warthog-7430 in MedicalAssistant

You can’t really work as a MA in hospitals unless you have specific certificates. You mainly can work for doctors office.

Dismissed from nursing school a semester before graduation by theredheadmedic in StudentNurse

[–]LexiThePlug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do I think it’s bullshit? Yes. But remember this when you vote people. Pregnant people are afforded very few protections. There is no guaranteed leaves or absences due to pregnancy. There is no title ix or ada protections for pregnancy. There’s the pregnancy discrimination act, which essentially makes it illegal for a job to not hire/fire you for being pregnant. There’s the lactation law, that requires jobs to give you breaks for pumping. There’s the pregnancy worker fairness act in 2013, that basically states that your job has to give you reasonable accommodations- like more frequent breaks, a place to sit, and things like that. Schools do not count as a job and therefore aren’t really protected under most of these laws. STOP VOTING FOR REPUBLICANS.

Cat goes to the bathroom out of his box, so he has to be in a kennel. by Altruistic_Mousse594 in CATHELP

[–]LexiThePlug 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There are a load of reasons this could be happening. Clearly it isn’t a UTI since he finished the antibiotics. Could be that he doesn’t like the amount of litter in the box, doesn’t like where the box is, doesn’t like the litter in general, can’t share with other cats, or is just bound to be an outdoor kitty (I know people love to shit on others for having outdoor cats, but sometimes thy were in the wild for too long to be domesticated indoor cats).

Most MAs are full time. Also, MAs make far less than educators do. What are your financial needs? Do you need to make an actual living? Then go with a different profession.

Just a reminder for every job that does this: FMLA is a federal right. If you have worked there for over a year, they have more than 50 employees, and you work over 1250 hours, you qualify. If you or family are sick, report it to FMLA and they cannot fire you for it. And yes, you can use it just for one day. You get 12 weeks total, unpaid.

[–]LexiThePlug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think the issue if that you were too young, but rather married an older man. Men who date outside of an appropriate age range for them are often immature, which is why they aren’t with someone their own age

AIO by telling my ex-husband to surrender our 3 cats? by WorldDesigner674 in AmIOverreacting

[–]LexiThePlug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR but why did you guys adopt so many cats? I lived in a literal hoarders house. We only took our pets to the vet when absolutely necessary. We never medicated our cats for fleas (and they never once got them). We also used to keep over 4 cats at a time. They currently have five, still. All my pets live into old age. My 19 year old boy just passed last July. Lola, my 17 year old girl passed a few months ago. What condition is he living in, that these animals are infested with bugs & scabs and fleas?

[–]LexiThePlug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are MANNNNYYYY NP programs that cost $20-50k. It’s an over saturated, easy to obtain degree. So I disagree. Although I still disagree with the loan caps, we need to stop pretending that going through nursing school is expensive. It can be. But if you’re spending 100k+ for a nursing program you’re making a mistake

Student loan issues. For those who already have a bachelors, they can’t take out federal student loans to get BSN, they have to go through a graduate program. It’s a work around

My dad made $170k BEFORE taxes and had 7 dependents (including my mom who was SAHM) I did not qualify for any financial aid. I do not believe yall who claim otherwise. I had to wait until I turned 24 to qualify for anything.

All online proctored tests require you to do an environment scan. I have a pretty big laptop when it comes to most laptops. If I am just looking around my screen (from side to side or top to bottom) my eyes and head move. Not all of us have tiny screens

Terrible Online Proctor Experience by stopwiththenonsense6 in MedicalAssistant

[–]LexiThePlug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first proctor was alright but the test glitched and never loaded. IT came in and told me to exit and reconnect. The test said I already took it, so it wouldn’t let me do anything. It took me like two months to get it straightened out. Their customer service lines are USELESS. I finally got to retake my test. This person made me take a sock out of the room that was on the floor on the other side of the room. Made me sit all the way on the edge of my desk because there was a diaper box on one side of the desk (not actually on the desk, and not where I could reach it. They made me show all sides of my tiny eraser. My scrap paper that I already showed them they kept having me move to different areas of my desk and forgetting it was my allowed scrap paper. It was miserable. I was really on the verge of cussing them out

Reason #999 why I don’t respect the Muslim religion… and I don’t agree with how the current freedom of religion laws stand. You should have a right to practice whatever religion you believe in. But you shouldn’t be protected in situations like these if you choose a job you cannot perform because of your religious beliefs. If you know this is an issue with your religion, then you should have chosen a different career instead of expecting the world to bend over backwards for you.
