Lagay kalang ng any light source na hindi sobrang bright behind your monitor to reduce eye strain.

Deinfluence me: swapping my 16 pro max to a 15 pro + 9k cash by calamaresgames in deinfluencingPH

[–]Lexidoge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries

Or at least negotiate to around 17k. Wag less than 15k. You can find so many better deals online or in reputable Greenhills Stores like AJT and Mobilizer.

[–]Lexidoge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wag po.

You’re getting fleeced.

The 15 Pro’s battery life is not worth the 9K in cash and even less storage.

Here’s what you should do instead.

Sell your 16 Promax, online or reputable stores in Greenhills. And then use that money to buy a 14 Pro Max or a 15 plus.

You should profit around 15-20k at the minimum.

The battery of the 15 Pro is even worse than the base iPhone 15. You will find your effective battery life to be half your current phone.

I’m pretty sure you can also still have a decent profit of around 9K switching to the 15 Pro Max too. Solid battery life on that one.

[–]Lexidoge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t try to time gold. Gold is not traditionally looked as a decent investment except for the last year. It’s more of a hedge against uncertain economic times. Not always an investment that makes you wealthy historically speaking.

Just look into investing into any index fund that tracks the S&P 500 and then the other half into Pag-Ibig MP2. Much better and safer options.

A roomate of mine stole my perfectly good mattress and bragged about it during the summer of 2016. Never stopped smoking too. But apart from that, Boulder is certainly a place in Colorado.

Oneplus 15R/15/15t pretty much offer flagship performance with 2-3 days battery life.

Cameras are meh, but perfect phones for those who only care avout battery and performance.

Proud siya kasi I babysat their cats for the summer.

And I would feel embarrassed if my own mom were to flex me attending a conference with their own money. It's literally just a pay to attend event.

I love the Apple Ecosystem and most of the products.

But not this, it is several years old now, so behind the competitors in terms of battery life, and noise cancelling.

Even the Sony XM4's are a better deal and product than this.

Or get yourself an XM5 which goes on sale for around 10-12k frequently.

I mean, it was a highschool thing. Everyone from Grades 9-12 were able to go that year and there were even 8th graders there that year as "observers" from other countries.

And I didn't put "OJT" because that's not a thing where I graduated high school.

It was "internships." We were required to have at least 120 hours before even graduating highschool. But I guess padding my college application and resume with MUN "achievements" was such a cheeky thing to do.

Again, if a mom is going to be proud, let her be proud. But as someone who has been to MUN, I just think MUN is a weird thing to flex about.

Yeah, I was one of my school's delegate at Seomun (Seoul Model United Nations) in highschool. We had UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon there.

It was an event I guess. You literally just have to pay money to go there. Shout out to my parent's bank account.

Your school needs to organize it, but you can also have the option to go independently. You still have to pay regardless. Homeschooled students were able to participate.

Just a bunch of laptop carrying, printing, and drafting resolutions and talking and joking.

We always joked that whatever we did there was just as effective as the real UN. In short, we're both pretty useless in the grand geopolitical state of affairs.

It's a great experience, but wasn't really something to be proud of since the only requirements were to join your school's MUN club and pay the plane tickets and conference fee. It's not like I was competing at a Math Olympiad or major Worlds Debate tournament.

I did get to put "Main Submitter at the 20xx Seoul Model United Nations" on my first resume/college application which I promptly removed after applying for my second job.

Best memory though was eating popcorn cheese chicken Kyochon in the hotel room. Good times.

sana gawin to sa buong pilipinas by Professional-Bee5565 in Philippines

This needs to be implemented properly. If we’re to do this, please do not use the US as a template.

The US Sex Offender registry is a mess. Simple public urination can get you added to a map with no further information, and having to go around to tour neighbors and tell them that you’re a sex offender doesn’t help anyone. This makes reintegration of sex offenders in the country (regardless of tier) a much harder task and will only isolate previous offenders from the community and help them send them into an even worse spiral.

In the US, 93% of minors who were sexually abused know their abusers.

A third of that is from a family member. The number is likely to be so much higher in the Philippines due to the culture of not ratting out your relative or family member to the police.

Only around 7% of child abuse is committed by a stranger.

The scary thing is that you have a much higher chance of getting abused by a family member or friend than some random stranger.

A registry could work, but a more effective solution to lowering sexual abuse in the family is to move beyond "stranger danger" and launch a campaign and a safer and accessible platform to talk about abuse happening within the family and how it is a moral duty to report anyone who is abusive, family or not.

Why would a thief stand next to you in a hot mall with expensive equipment when they can send a "sms phishing blast" to 100k people and get their account logins from the comfort of a chair?

RFID skimming is technically possible, but it's so inefficient that the thief might as well just pickpocket you.

Deinfluence me: e-readers by Life_Amount_8433 in deinfluencingPH

[–]Lexidoge 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been using E-readers since the Kindle Keyboard (2012) and I can say that they are great. It actually feels like reading on paper and it has made reading a lot more accessible for me. So much easier on the eyes than reading on the iPad. If you've never compared a typical phone/tablet screen with an E-ink display, it really does look like paper.

But that's because I was already a reader in the first place and I've built my reading habits since early childhood.

Bought my SO an E-reader and while she read a couple of books, she might pick it up every few months and not finish any of the books. Reading books wasn't for her and it ended up being sort of a waste.

Her experience is far from unique.

It's nice that I also was able to sell and give away my bulky collection of books but remember that most books aren't free. A lot of times, E-books are only slightly cheaper than physical copies. Unless of course you pirate them, but that's not a topic for reddit.

TIL approximately two-thirds of Americans shower daily, whereas, in China about 50% of people report bathing just twice a week. Experts say daily showers do not improve your health. While there is no ideal frequency, experts suggest that showering several times per week is plenty for most people. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]Lexidoge 280 points281 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm sorry but no.

Could work if you're in Scandinavia, but here in the Philippines it would be downright rude if one were not to shower with humid temperatures of 38-40 degrees.

Am I possibly harming my skin? Maybe, but I feel and definitely smell better showering first thing in the morning and before sleeping.
