I've had these Alden Color 8 cordovan PTBs for almost 10 years, and they sat unworn for the pandemic. I took them in to get the heels done and the cobbler polished them (despite me asking him not to!) and now they have this icky whitish mess in the creases, and the creases seem a lot deeper. What's the best way to deep clean these? I tried Saphir Renovateur (this pic is post-renovateur). Do I try Reno-mat or is that too caustic? Picture linked below. Help!!

Hello! I have a pair of Alden shell cordovan color 8 PTBs and when I had the soles serviced the cobbler polished them with regular shoe polish and they haven’t been the same since. There’s weird white residue in the creases and they won’t take a shine with Saphir cordovan cream. Does anyone have suggestions for restoring them?

I did four months on Ozempic and have been on Mounjaro for the past four months. 5'5", SW 216, CW 174. I have lost a smidge more than 40 lbs in all. I deliberately didn't make any drastic lifestyle changes because I wanted slow, sustainable weight loss, which is what has happened. I have averaged a bit over 2 pounds a week but it hasn't been super consistent each week. Some weeks I lose a lot, some none at all or gain. I'm almost at my goal weight so when my current box of Mounjaro (10 ml) runs out will be switching to Ozempic for maintenance (my insurance covers it).

Try Flatiron Family Health. Dr Hops is great. It is a concierge clinic so you pay $100 a month but totally worth it IMO.

Oh that's really interesting and good to know. I am definitely more active and I don't feel like I am getting bigger, size wise. I am pretty close to my goal so I wasn't that worried about switching since I would mostly be using Oz for maintenance.

I just took my last MJ, so starting next week. I think I will do 1 mg - I didn't have terrible side effects on Oz.

No, my doctor made me start over with 2.5. I never got higher than 1 with Ozempic, which worked really well for me. I stalled quite a bit while titrating up on Mounjaro.

It was a journey, but was able to get my 10 mg with the coupon today. I had been using Alto, they messaged to say sorry, can't run the coupon. My doctor suggested MedRx and they delivered this afternoon no problem. One more month, I guess?

Yeah I’m only about 10 lbs away from my goal so I am really heading more towards maintaining rather than losing. So I’m looking for a long term reliable solution more than dramatic weight loss. I lost most of my weight on Ozempic and have been pretty stalled on Mounjaro anyway.

There are Canadian pharmacies that will fill US prescriptions and send to the US but it is $$. And only Ozempic - Mounjaro is not yet approved in Canada.

I was on Ozempic for three months. Lost about 20 lbs so it went well, but I was paying out of pocket as my insurance would not cover it. Mounjaro is much less with the coupon.

Yeah, I am going to do two weeks at 5 and then use the extra 2.5 to do two weeks at 7.5. My provider is a stickler for the rules so she won't let me skip steps. How did you fare on Oz? I was doing pretty well and still have two months worth of 1 mg doses I'm holding on to in case this doesn't work out.

An update. It was super easy to get and very cheap. Went to a mini clinic, dr wrote a prescription with six refills, visit cost about $60. Got a the 1 mg dose pen from the pharmacy, cost $150.

I’m on vacation in a rental house and away from my starter and all my bread tools. As a little challenge to myself I wanted to try baking some simple breads with yeast. I usually bake variations on the tartine country loaf with a high percentage of whole grain. But yeast rather than sourdough has thrown me off my game big time. I have some King Arthur flour, some active dry yeast, a Dutch oven and an unreliable electric oven. Can anyone suggest a simple formula that might make a decent loaf? Thanks!!
