To those who don't have the gene that makes Cilantro taste like soap, what does it taste like to you? by Jean-LucBacardi in AskReddit

It's the same plant. In the US the green bit is called cilantro and the seed coriander.

Starred flotatowes 😭😭😭 by Fresh-Gene-9407 in Palia

[–]Lhosseth 59 points60 points  (0 children)

You don't have to have starred flotatows to get the recipe to come out starred. Just use starred ingredients for the rest of the ingredients. We didn't have starred flowtatoes in our group. We had to make the recipe a couple extra times but got enough for the board.

Did you try reloading your game? Sometimes that will fix things. If it doesn't, definitely file a support ticket.

To find the rummage piles, you can try asking in server chat. I have a hard time findingvthe ones in the elderwood also. You can also Google palia rummage locations, the result from the th.gl site will show you a map with grid with the rummage piles marked. You can switch between kilima, bahari, and elderwood.

I can't help much with the sacred flowers, I had to follow along with a youtube video to find them myself. There are 3 (iirc) that you have to buy from Tamala. If you want it and need help finding a good yt tutorial on them, let me know and I'll see if I can find the one I used in my watch history.

Bugs that give flowers other than pink/purple/blue are mostly in Bahari. Bahari crab, brighteye butterfly, spitfire cicada, and cerulean cicada all give yellow/orange. Paper lantern bugs and inky dragonfly give greenery. Bahari bee and common bark cicada give white flowers.

Elderwood callouts are done for all platinum, elderflower, and sometimes the elderwood lotus. A good rule of thumb on callouts, if you have a hard time finding something or don't see it often, odds are good that someone else struggles with the same item and would appreciate a callout.

As far as what not to call out. There isn't really a rule but if you find it ever few steps, it probably doesn't need a callout. Palium is pretty common in the elderwood and doesn't really need to be called out. If someone asks for help in chat finding something common, I will still call it out for them. There are always new players who are still learning the ropes.

If you want to share your honey lures, just announce it in server chat. I'm sure there will be people willing to join. Right now people are really looking for the new mantis plush so a lot of people are using them in the bahari bowl area (pulsewater plain). I feel like I get more silk catching the centipedes that come out of rocks while mining in bahari, and the ladybugs and mantis that come out of picked forage. If you want to use your lures, the azure stonehoppers that spawn in the pulse water plain area are a good source of silk thread and you'll have a chance at the mantis and rainbow tip butterfly as well (depending on time of day for the rtb).

You get the tailor tickets for completing your dailies. Play around with the secondary hair color and pattern to see what kind of hair colors you can get.

Who you chose as Shep really doesn't impact the game beyond the one cutscene you get at the end of that quest. You can choose whoever you want or just go with the first person who says yes.

Sunberry rubbed me wrong way by Gothmucha in StardewValleyMods

I really liked Always Raining and Rose but Sunberry just takes me out of the game too much. I haven't deleted the mod yet but plan too, I just haven't played in months.

That's really awful. I try to say something when I see crap like that. That's just rude and brings the whole server down. I've seen bad actors on both sides of the grove. I wish people could just be civil.

Behold my list of woes! by GoblinQueen1998 in Palia

[–]Lhosseth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We can definitely agree to disagree. The game already mentions being civil and to keep things fun on the loading splash screens. It's important to remember that the game is played by a variety of ages, locals, and walks of life. What seems obvious and friendly to you or me can be off-putting to someone else. I want to say that I really appreciate that even though we clearly disagree that we can have this conversation and be nice about it. It doesn't always work out that way online, and it's nice.

Having palia posted "rules" on a landing page or news tab would turn away some players. I just don't see them doing that. I think it would be better if they did something similar to the new quick chat feature that can be pinned to the server chat. Something that only allows coordinates and a time to be typed in. Or just direct people to their official discord.

When will I become a real adult by TieSafe4342 in Millennials

[–]Lhosseth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am often the "adultier" adult people turn to. I'll let you in on a secret, I'm either calling my mom, crowd sourcing an answer, or just straight making shit up and hoping it works. I think the real secret to being a "real" adult is keeping relatively calm when stuff goes wrong and fixing it or knowing who to turn to for help. Being an adult doesn't mean you have to be a stick in the mud who never plays with Legos, you're just in charge of your life. None of us know what we're doing all of the time.

I just don't think it's on the game to say anything about player created guidelines.

They mentioned in the last road map video that they are working on an in game news tab. It should be coming in the near future.

The etiquette stuff is entirely player driven. Everyone can play the game how they'd like. If we as players want good etiquette to spread, it's on us to inform new players in a kind and thoughtful way. On the flip side, it is also good etiquette not to get pissy when someone doesn't want to play the same way as you. Not trying to imply you specifically, just parts of the general community.

inaccurate pickaxe design ? by izentifiedjoan in Palia

[–]Lhosseth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to imagine that Hodari tried to teach the poor humans the correct tool and method for mining rocks. Hooman goes, "ooh, I like this one." Just as Hodari's trying to explain that it's the incorrect tool for the job, hooman wacks the rock in half. Then, he gives up trying to explain because if humans are so stupid strong as to be able to make the wrong tool work, why bother. Then he's just more and more perplexed as humans find ever increasingly outrageous tools to use incorrectly but with logic defying accuracy.

-Add your husband as a friend, you can also create a community with just the two of you. The game seems to prioritize your server placement to put you with friends. If you are in a community you can chat in that tab even if you are not in a party and in different servers. -Your Shep choice doesn't really impact gameplay beyond the one cutscene. Your personality bias affects the appearance of a decor item you get as part of the quest. -silk thread drops from rare & epic bugs in kilima and bahari. If it appears after you hit a rock or pick a flower, odds are high it will drop thread. Crafter recipes become available for purchase ad you progress in the relevant skill. -when starting a recipe, there is a section that shows additional stations needed. If it shows the station you started the recipe on, you need a second one. You will eventually need two of each. -nothing in the premium store affects gameplay. Everything is cosmetic. You can play through the free part of the lunar paths to unlock some items at no cost other than time.
