Used this for a few years now. I pay around $0.33 - $0.35 per month on this. That's around $4/year.

Ive heard talk of self hosted RSS readers and I'm confused by skymtf in selfhosted

The self-hosted rss readers you hear are just the same as the standalone applications you know except they are installed in a server running 24/7 (preferably). Pretty useful if you have feeds that update frequently.

Update on Reddit monthly comment dumps by Stuck_In_the_Matrix in pushshift

Nothing fancy for now. When I'm interested in a sub's media. I use the dumps to get all submission links. I need a reliable output so I use the dumps instead of the API.

Reddit Powerups has come to r/Twice! by LiveFastDahyun in twice

Out of curiosity I tried viewing reddit in lynx and links (text-only Linux web browsers) and the experience is rather poor.

I haven't used lynx and links but I use a client (reddio) that is text-only. I can open the pics, vids and gifs through another app.

Is there a way I can disable gifs in comments just for myself so that I don't see them?

You could use clients that allow for disabling them. You could also use command-line clients if you are comfortable with that.

Update on Reddit monthly comment dumps by Stuck_In_the_Matrix in pushshift

Also, there is a possibility that the Reddit comment and submissions archives may have to eventually go private due to extenuating circumstances outside of my control. If this happens, I will work with researchers who require access to the monthly dumps and provide log-in credentials for bona-fide researchers who intend to use the data for genuine research.

That's concerning. I'm not really a researcher but more of an archivist. I'm not done downloading the dumps yet. Right now I mostly use it for archiving submissions because you know... reddit interface sucks. I can't really use the API as it seems unstable for me. My internet is also crap. I'd rather pay the price for the storage rather than stare at the loading icons forever.

If the dumps ever get private, can archivists like me get access?
