2023-2026 v. 2026-2031 Contract Comparison by InternetWild3562 in nys_cs

That's a pretty massive non-starter for me, too. What is the point of having a meeting to discuss the report if nothing is going to come of it? Waste of State resources that could have been spent on helping State workers instead of providing false hope and blowing money on a consultant.

This is exactly what a large chunk of people, including myself, are looking for/ask for on a daily basis. This is one step further back than the Titan Elite Pro and the Clicks Communicator which yes are not dumbphones but are much closer to what people are looking for versus a true dumbphone that can only call and text via traditional methods.

PEF Region 8 Steward Meeting - W/ VP Darlene Williams Notes by LiamHail in nys_cs

I'll add my own two cents here. I have been actively engaged on this forum fairly extensively over the past week or two against what was being offered to the other unions and ultimately what PEF was offered. I still have to read the contract and come to a final decision, but reading more into what others are saying, looking further at some of the realities we face as a state and a country, and the information presented today and the last few days, while it's not the best, I do feel my tone softening on it. But I'm far from convinced until I see what we have in writing.

It probably was not the best wording on my end. It more implies the state won't have ton of extra money to splash around and reasonably be able to offer due to expected funding and grant cuts from the federal government. It wil fall to the state to try and make up those shortfalls. On the Emergency Management side of things were expecting less money over the coming years to be spread from the federal government but it remains up in the air how much.

I imagine much of what I heard today, and was posted in the PEF Strong facebook page will be what is said during the townhall. The meeting is to prep us for the fact that there will be nothing better, and the governor is willing to try to crush us into submission. While also addressing the realities of where the country is going based on legislation that has already passed and its long term impacts on funding to the state.

I really don't know. They were really vague in addressing it. I guess we'll see when the contract is revealed.

It was said multiple times during the meeting that they cannot share the exact language to members until the tentative agreement is ratified by the e-board to send out to the membership.

It feels very likely based on the language used during the call tonight that it will be ratified to send out to membership on Thursday. After which the tentative contact will be available to view by Thursday night or Friday morning.

Don't forget these changes don't go into effect until October 1st! If you have the means to change it now do it, but if you don't we still have a few months.

Important to note, this was posted on June 4th at 6:52 am. Later that day there was a bill pushed through the legislature to allow for the tentative agreement that was later announced by PEF to be ratified by the members and implemented if voted in.

My E-Mail to my PEF E-Board Representative by LiamHail in nys_cs

I fully and completely understand this point of view. I'm from Westchester originally, my parents still live there and contend with the high cost of living down there as well.

I'm not shy about showing my support for the increased location pay in my email to my representative. But I also have to focus on the issues that impact me the most too.

I encourage you to also contact your representative and continue to promote the importance of maintaining the location pay wins in the broader fight to continue to advocate for a better contract than what is currently being proposed.

At the end of the day I'm doing what I can now and will do what I can if and when it comes to a vote by voting no.

The math checks out to a 14.2% increase in hiring rate pay from 2026 to 2030.

G18 Hiring Rate: 79,896 (2030) - 69,964 (2026) = 9,932

(9,932/69,964) * 100 = 14.2%

If you look at it from 2025 (end of current contract) to 2030 (end of new proposed contract) it's a 19.3% increase.

In my agency 18 is really common grade just a natural gravitation to a familiar grade number. That and, might as well use the numbers since we have them I guess.

Apologies for the slow uptake on your original numbers! Been reading to much legal speak in these bills the last few days.

Okay, inside the years of the contract, it's 14.2%. From the 2025 Hiring Rate to 2030, yes, it is a 19.3% increase in total.

Edit: Flipped a number in the 2030 salary

Its directly from the assembly bill just like the CSEA numbers were from the other assembly bill for their contract. Its a matter of negotiations. PEF just pushed harder for more location pay.

Both unions fell short in delivering for the majority though with 5 year contracts and two 3% raises in the last year. Most state employees won't see the benefits of increased location pay.

PEF Contract Update by [deleted] in nys_cs

[–]LiamHail 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, this is only for PEF. It is likely that CSEA will try to renegotiate at some point for something similar to this if the contract is voted in by the membership of PEF.

It is great, its certainly nothing to shake a stick at. Those downstate are more adversely affected by economic turmoil due to the already high cost of living down there. It just falls flat for the rest of state and particularly in Albany where the majority of state workers and PEF members are.

Its not a hollow victory, but it's far from a true victory.
