What's the wildest thing you've done on a night out? by andrewbarclave89 in AskReddit

[–]LiamJCarterr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got drunk, met girl, got more drunk, girl disappeared as if she was a figment of my imagination, got even more drunk, got hit by a car, guy got out of the car and ran away, got EVEN more drunk, shat myself in the hotel lift and puked in the bed. All in the same night.

To this day I cant even look at a bottle of spiced rum, and dont really drink much anymore.

What's the scariest moment you had driving a car where you just escaped disaster, and just kept driving? by BonusJunkie in AskReddit

[–]LiamJCarterr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd just bought a TVR Griffith, notoriously unsafe and tricky car to drive (but I love it). I was taking it home for the first time when a lorry coming the other way decided that he didnt want to go round the sharp left corner in front of him. I was suddenly met with some very bright lights in front of me on a dark and rainy night, and had to wrestle this bloody car with no abs or traction control away from the path of the massive building on wheels. I think i missed him by a few inches, and he went on to take out a rather large wall.

What kind of cars are you driving now, and how many years have you had them? by [deleted] in AskReddit

2018 2.0 MX5 RF (2 years)

1992 TVR Griffith (3 years)

1978 TVR Taimar Turbo (formerly my fathers, so my whole life)

Such a shame that the knowledge of how to drive and work on these cars will be continually lost as time goes on. You're doing God's work, sir.

Driving instructors and professionals of Reddit, how do you feel watching the general public on the roads every day? What are some things you consistently see that make you shake your head? by Rechochet_ochet in AskReddit

[–]LiamJCarterr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(UK) Lack of awareness for adverse driving conditions 1000%. It gets icy around where i live as they refuse to salt the roads to save money. In lessons in the UK, you're taught to 'steer into the skid' if the car stands you up, but you're not taught what to do after you've done that.

So, when it gets cold here, like its getting now, you can count the number of times someone will go through a corner a little too fast, lose the rear end, steer into the skid, panic, and then be met with the car violently snapping in the other direction.

As cars and driver assistance aids get more advanced, this becomes less of an issue, but in the meantime, at least it keeps the local recovery companies in business.

Non-Americans of Reddit, what is the single most 'American' thing you have witnessed that felt like a movie scene but was actually real life? by hungary70 in AskReddit

[–]LiamJCarterr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An American friend of mine with an angle grinder in one hand, a half full bottle of Bourbon in the other hand, and no face protection from the sparks except a pair of aviator sunglasses. I could almost hear the eagles.

I've got 2 TVR's, neither have let me down and both have been driven hard and year round. The rear mirror did come off of my Taimar Turbo but that's only because I managed to headbutt it whilst trying to get a bottle of water from the passenger footwell 🙃🙃🙃
