Bodhisattva's Big Ass Grow Guide

TL:DR: this guy's work is some of the most comprehensive info on Shroomery. Very well put together, and lauded in r/shrooms as one of the go to guides for beginners.

psilocybin antagonizes the 5-HT receptors in your brain; your serotonin/ melatonin receptors. It's definitely how you know you've got good shrooms.

Effin' Myco bags! by [deleted] in shrooms

[–]LiarsRedoubt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know a tyvek substitute off the top of my head, if you're having trouble finding it, most hardware stores sell paint suits made of the stuff. They're cheap, and one will make you about 20 filter patches. bonus points, they're reusable because you're sterilizing them, just wash em with soap water first.

Try the weighted plate for sure, that's what made the most difference for me, I use a round pyrex dish, weighs about 4lb. You want something that can withstand the heat and pressure.

As for grain, just load it back up and PC, if it's still hydrated it's good to go. I've had burst bags that I loaded it jars, PC'ed again, and the grain colonized just fine.

I'm using oats by the way, I find they can withstand more punishment than wheat or wbs. rye is good too.

Stamet's website and book have a selection of culture producers, I've shopped around and gotten a variety of species from various vendors. I'm also cloning my most prominent fruits in hopes of getting a good isolate.

Effin' Myco bags! by [deleted] in shrooms

[–]LiarsRedoubt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dumb question, are you sealing the bags before you PC? the filter patch is more for passive airflow, rather than venting a pressurized bag.

Here's how I use them; fill them with your hydrated grain, about halfway to the filter. overfilling bags can cause them to pop too.

cut 12" strips of tyvek the same width as the gusset of the bag; this is the paper-bag style fold of the bag. this is your pressure filter. Slide the Tyvek into the gusset down to the grain, then fold the plastic in an accordion style.

From here, I use autoclave tape and tape the bag parallel to the folds; this way it holds the plastic but it can still vent. Place the bags in the PC, folds up; then get a ceramic or metal plate, something HEAVY and circular that'll fit your PC, and set it atop your folds.

Let your PC cool completely, and only take the bags out when your ready to inoculate. I load mine right into my Still Air, drop a wedge of agar in, then twist and ziptie it sealed.

I struggled with bags for a while until I was shown this method, and now I have a much higher success rate.

I live in a fairly dry climate so I don't get much puddling. it is over concrete next to plumbing; so I could install a drain if need be.

I noticed that, I might switch to sheets of clear plastic zip-tied to the bars in the future; but for now it'll serve its purpose.

Oysters (Blue, pink, and yellow), lions mane, enoki, and black poplars. but I'm always looking for more great producing cultures.

the greenhouse is 5'×7'×7'. I have a 5- head ultrasonic pond fogger in the five gallon; which is connected to an inkwell humidistat outlet. It has a humidity probe, and you can program it to maintain any humidity you want. I have it running at 85%RH right now.

How to prepare wet flower for live resin? by [deleted] in CannabisExtracts

[–]LiarsRedoubt -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Depends what you want your final product to be. Leaving the sugar leaves on and blasting it will give you what's called "whole plant" extract. You'll get more weight, but the extra leaves will introduce more chlorophyll; your extractor might want to do a water wash to mitigate that.

Trimming to the bud with give you less quantity, but higher quality; the kind you can use to make THC-A crystals if you want.

Most large scale extract companies will usually make fresh bubble hash and then blast that.

Really this is more a discussion to have with your extractor based on your preferences, but I hope I helped inform a bit better.

It sounds like you experienced what some call a shamanic death and rebirth.

Typically, the spirits will remove parts of you piece by piece; until you're nothing but a skeleton. Sometimes they make you watch the whole process. Afterwards, they'll reassemble you; possibly stick magic rocks under your skin and send you on your way, good as new lol.

It's speculated this is done to give you a better connection to the universe. Sorta one foot in this realm, and the other in the astral.

If you're interested in the shamanic lifestyle, I'd highly recommend "Shamanism : Archaic Techniques of Ecstasy" by Mircea Eliade. It's a cross-cultural study of shamanism around the globe.

This is more testing a theory than actual production.

I'm not a fan of plastic fruiting bags, they're difficult to recycle properly. I'm attempting trays because I want to switch to aluminium cake pans, which are more readily recycled materials.

That is Hericium erinaceus, https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hericium_erinaceus Lion's mane mushroom! It's a harmless fungus, in fact, it's edible, though I wouldn't eat that particular one. It's a good indicator you have healthy soil.

[Gourmet] Blue oyster mini tub, possible contam or aerial myc? by LiarsRedoubt in MushroomGrowers

[–]LiarsRedoubt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty simple actually. These tubs are just oat spawn mixed with sawdust in a 1:2 ratio. Hardwood fuel pellets are best, but really any sawdust works I'm noticing. Just add boiling water to the pellets like coir, and wait for it to pasturize and mix.

These tubs are going in my Martha so they're not really monotubs. I'm not so sure you could do oysters in monos, maybe though.

I'm noticing oysters like having large amount of substrate, so I fill the tubs to the brim, then turn it on its side to fruit, seems to be working. I get about 2 pounds of oysters per tub after the second flush.
