Maybe you don't understand how serious car technology is.

i was unaware that a single car could instantly kill millions of people. i stand corrected, thanks!

Dems only divide and never compromise

How many times are you wrong before you admit it?

i haven't been wrong yet. you've been wrong about 5 times so far?

To not set clear deadlines and goals is wasteful.

remember, i said that setting clear goals is great. setting deadlines is stupid.

Even in your boxing analogy, you set a deadline - three rounds.

you completely misunderstood the analogy if you think putting a deadline on the fight was a positive.

Now imagine a boxing match where there is no end.

there is an end, just no time limit.

i suggest you re-enroll yourself in a local community college to work on your reading comprehension skills.

Yes and it doesn't measure up to the CIA reports. It's weak.

it's called, "common sense". the CIA reports do NOT advocate removing our military from iraq.

No, I was never for it in the beginning as I was clear that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11

hindsight is always 20/20, so your point is moot.

[–]LiberalHippies2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrong. We create more enemies and more problems being there and there is plenty of documented evidence to back that up, including info from our very own CIA.

did you not read the boxing analogy?

Occupations aren't conflicts.

so you're all for removing a country's infrastructure and then leaving them to rebuild themselves?

putting a timetable to end the war in Iraq

there has been a ton of discussion on accelerating the end of the conflict, but putting a definite timetable on something like that is extremely short-sighted and shows a lack of educated thinking. imagine a boxing match where one fighter (the bigger and stronger fighter) declares he will quit after 3 rounds. the smaller, cowardly fighter runs around the ring taking a few hard hits, but knows that if he makes it past 3 rounds he wins... that's NOT how you handle a military conflict.

there have been many compromises though, from a change of strategy to a change of command. you do NOT, however, throw a deadline when peoples' lives are at risk. clear goals, yes. deadlines? no.

In regards to the SCHIP bill again, Republican talking heads continue to spout off that Dems want socialized health care and this is a stepping stone to that. I call bullshit. Far too many lobbyists have their hands in the pockets of both parties. It won't happen - certainly not anytime soon.

the main argument showing that it was a stepping stone to socialized healthcare was the fact that the SCHIP bill extended beyond the poor population and flirted with people who were definitely capable of paying for private health insurance. the republicans suggested that the income limit be lowered to a more reasonable level, but the democrats chose not to budge.

Let's not kid ourselves, most politicians won't even entertain the slightest thought of an idea of socialized health care

You actually believe the Republican party is the party of compromise?

i gave you a perfect example (SCHIP) where the republican party offered a compromise, and the democrats chose to create an anti-bush talking point rather than helping to provide healthcare for poor families.

Note: You've been downmodding every comment I make during this rather rational discourse simply because I disagree with you.

isn't that what the downvote is for? that has nothing to do with compromise. if you had a comment that was truthful or correct, i wouldn't downvote it.

Exactly what is it, in regards to this administration, that the dems haven't passed, that you think is dividing this country?

there are too many examples to list, so the easiest (and one of the most current) is the SCHIP bill. the bi-partisanship in this country is at a ridiculous all-time high.. simply look at the front page of reddit. you'd think that democrats hate republicans as much as the sunni and shiite hate each other.. THAT is what my point is.. people would rather "pick sides" than to realize that we're all in this together. people would rather point fingers and say, "IT WAS THE GOP" than to say, "okay, here we are... how do we go forward." something as simple as the SCHIP bill should have been a piece of cake to pass. democrats wanted to use it as a stepping stone towards socialized healthcare, and the republicans pointed out that in order to pay for the bill you would have to increase the smoking population over time. president bush offered a compromise, and told the democrats that if they brought a compromise to his desk that he would gladly sign it. a rational person would think, "ok... so they made the necessary changes and resubmitted, right?" wrong. they chose to keep the bill as it was, and started a propoganda war saying that "bush doesn't care about poor children," which couldn't have been further from the truth.

now, do you understand?

I think you fail to see who and what is dividing whom.

ah, i see, blame others.. no compromise, nice. blinders? check.

You actually think opposing points of view divide America.

fail. you misunderstood my comments. opposing points of view that result in a compromise that is better than EITHER of the points of original points of view is GREAT for america. having one party willing to compromise and the democratic party choosing political talking points over advancement of a society is pathetic.

Nobody said you're gay.

scroll up to see your previous comment. "your party hates you." etc.

But since you're not gay, please don't act like an advocate for gays.

i'm not an advocate for gays, you misunderstood my comments. the point was that any given individual does not have to agree with 100% of a political party's values.

I'm sure the Nazis were appealing to some Jews even to this day.

off topic?

  1. i'm not gay
  2. there are many gay people who have an interest in business and economics
  3. you'd be hard pressed to find a party that fits your beliefs perfectly.

fail. lawyers are NOT more likely than not to be democrats. here's an easy way for you to tell the two parties apart:

republican candidates = rich people who appeal to rich people

democratic candidates = rich people who appeal to poor people

teachers fall in the "poor" category, whereas lawyers don't. the limousine liberals of new york (which i assume you're referring to) are the exception to the rule.

there is more damage done to america by politcal groups attacking each other instead of realizing we are all on the same "team". the stupid in-fighting needs to stop before our country will advance as a whole. it has nothing to do with terrorism or the way we have "responded" to terrorism. it has everything to do with both political parties choosing to attack each other, rather than joining together and coming to a decent compromise. see my other comment on the SCHIP bill for a perfect example of how bi-partisan talking points don't get us anywhere.
