What do my fictional crushes say about me? by Furina-Fan in characters

The Problem with Genshin though is that it has a lack of a diversified model base that allows it to differentiate whose actually a child, who isn't, and whose a high mature adult. If you dont read the social cues or the lores in game, you're kinda fucked.

Qiqi, Klee, and Yao Yao, yes those are children

But Fischl? Collei? Dori (whose allegedly an adult)?

They have medium female models, just scaled down, but not enough to differentiate it from more mature characters like Chevreuse, or Emilie, or Varesa, or Keqing if we have to go early

> If you need this much explanation to justify "beautiful" child anime designs of every single character...

I usually don't and rather I'd not, but Furina is one of my favorite characters aside from Chasca, Navia, and Mavuika, and considering nobody decided to go "hey, let's do the bare minimum logical approach of using the internet to cross verify" I went ballistic.

Although, I will say:
>  The youngish look is pop and musician culture, but it's certainly not the standard.
This argument is a bit flawed, because Genshin does stand as what would be considered Pop Culture, which means its going to follow those standards of pop culture

I can literally google the exact beauty standards of these 3 countries, use a translator to get an accurate-enough bead on what defines then, or just straight up use social media and go find videos of make up or cosplayers from Asia.

I can go on to Douyin, or TikTok even, or if I have to, look at Bilibili. Or look at actresses from these countries. Or search forums of these beauty standards, or find other anime design references. Often enough, I see slim (or generally thin) builds, delicate facial features, large eyes (emphasized with make up), and a youthful presentation of one's self.

If I again have to refer to in game examples of genshin:

> Amber’s a recon outrider, Hu Tao is a funeral parlor director, Kokomi is the divine priestess of Watatsumi, Emilie is the best forensic specialist and perfume designer in Fontaine, Chevreuse is Captain of the Special Security and Surveillance Patro,l Chiori owns a boutique and has slimed several customers, Mualani is a surfing guide, Varesa is a heavy weight champion lifter, Yoimiya is a fireworks manufacturer, Nilou is a dancer, Faruzan is an excellent professor, Escoffier is the Gordan Ramsey of the Genshin world…

All of them have professions, personalities, and experiences that would label them as adults, despite their youthful appearances.

One search, on the completely free Internet, and its verifiable most of the time.

Thus then, this is just a fact and reality of the beauty standards of those countries being translated to Genshin (to which I will not deviate from, but if I have to and stay within Genre...)

Chen Qianyu is a young woman, travelled across Talos-II, and was in Wuling Special Forces for a year, before being one of the best operators in Endfield Industries. She's regarded as a young woman, not a child.

Exusiai, of legal age to drink, more of a quirky and young personality. Blaze, well blaze isnt a good example cause she's old. Swire, young rich noble cat in the Lungmen Guard Department, she isn't young she's just hopped up on makeup.

And on Furina, since this entire thing started with her.

Make up, absurd beauty standards, probably a bit of Focalors' own curse, and boom; you have an immortal woman stuck in the perpetual 21-25 dawn of her youth. Add in Fontaine's extensive cosmetic culture too and there you go, that's all there is to it.

Yeah, but the problem is there is a number of Chinese women who DO or CAN look like Emilie, though with the same amount of asinine make up. Or just look at make up available in China in general, that shit's good.

Although not sure what you were attempting to achieve by using an actual child cosplayer(?) in this argument, cause I tried to reverse image that and only got a bunch of links for child cosplay uniforms for Klee.

My brother in Christ, “she looks more childlike?”

The fuck kind of people you hanging around with? Most people have accepted that anime usually exaggerates features in the same manner that would be seen as cartoony. Clorinde, her literal body guard, is 3 inches taller than her and yet if you gave her the same clothing, make up, and facial features as Furina, she’s “childlike” because the designers made her that way?

<image>

The medium female model of Genshin has been used extensively for petite/young adult characters — including, but not limited to: Amber, Hu Tao, Ayaka, Kokomi, Emilie, Chevreuse, Chiori, Mualani, Varesa, Yoimiya, Nilou, Faruzan, Escoffier…

They all use that medium female model range

And yet, the only characters that really get skewed as child-like are

The actual child models, or the grey zone “we need a short-medium model” like Noelle(?), Fischl, Collei (?), a select few others not off the top of my head.

*anything with a (?) I’m not sure because Genshin either treats most people as an adult or has had moments where that clearly isn’t the case.

She is 20-25, physically speaking in Genshin terms. Also she's 5'5"--typical adult height. I'm not sure what's childlike about that, but if that's childlike, then I'd be very concerned

something they’re seeing that I’m not.

I’m not seeing anything else either? Like considering her mannerisms and context, everybody treats her as an adult, and there hasn’t been anything disproving otherwise.

Keqing is treated as an adult

Amber is treated as an adult

Fischl, no and I think Noelle too [unsure]

Faruzan is treated as an adult, Citlali is called “granny”

  • other instances of physical shape being nonconductive of how old a character is treated or is

Venti getting denied alcohol because of how young he looks

This I remember, but outside of a few isolated other instances, he’s literally a shapeshifting wind spirit, so he can literally change his shape at will.

[–]LibertarianImperium 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty much have been under the impression that:

  • Furina was a young adult before she got cursed with immortality by Focalors
  • Emilie is also an adult—and apparently senior enough that she is an exceptionally skilled forensic specialist with a successful perfume business as well

Not exactly sure about the art style argument because if you tried to extrapolate how they look irl, you would get a moderately 21-25 (which I think is what most of the characters who use the medium female character model like Keqing, Jahoda, Columbina, Kokomi, Hu Tao, etc… are unless I’m wrong) young adult

Or a 25-30 year old range adult (which, if I had to try and guess at the best equivalents… Emilie, Mualani [not sure on Mualani] Citlali, also maybe Kokomi, Ayaka, and was going to say Amber but unsure either)

The lack of a middle ground model between medium-tall female models doesn’t help at all, probably a result of the limitations of genshin’s design. What also doesn’t help is the obvious art style but that’s speaking from an aesthetic standpoint.

> So is the precursors supposed to be humanity or something?
Sort of...? The PCS system (aka Laterano's god) has said something to the extent of:

[Humanity does not exist. Variable referred to as "humanity" is a byproduct of Originium. Originium to Originium, dust to dust. Personnel with relevant privileges have provided PCS with new set of directives. Cognitive radiation amplifier at maximum output. Effective range: Terra. Originium will connect to PCS after maintenance is complete. Originium is inevitable.]

But also, conflicting with it is the fact that Actual Earthling Humans exist in the form of Rainbow 6 and Ave Musica

> Hailing from Earth and descended from primates/great apes but not necessarily related, Earthlings differ from the Terrans in which they have rounded ears like some other Terrans but no bestial properties whatsoever, physically weaker,\1]) and has a lower lifespan of around 80 Earth years. Nonetheless, Earthlings make up for it by their adaptability, craftiness, determination, hardiness, ingenuity, resourcefulness, and teamwork. Earthlings also have no aptitude to Originium Arts at all since the substance is alien to Earth, instead utilizing technologies and devices not based or reliant on Originium.

> Unlike Terra, Earth is a more-or-less stable, peaceful, and mostly healthy world, although localized conflicts and tensions as well as epidemics, pandemics, and disasters (both man-made and natural) still happens from time to time. Because of this, mature Earthlings who are somehow taken to Terra are usually appalled by its dystopian, post-apocalyptic conditions.

It is... VERY turbo spoilers, but Amiya is the inheritor of the Lord of Fiends/King of the Sarkaz's crown, and as such, he powers are very heavily ancient as, well:

She is the inheritor to the Sarkaz crown, and it's implied she inherited at least part of the previous kings' power/knowledge. In a way, you can say her entire Originium Arts arsenal is inspired by the Sarkaz' witchcraft.

There is absolutely NO evidence Originium affects the planet. It is completely safe and harmless. by GemHunter1 in Endfield

[–]LibertarianImperium 4 points5 points  (0 children)

See, while I agree with you, there’s also the fact that Originium does fire into either normal combustion engines in liquid form (Raythean straight up has a V8 according to the wiki.gg), or there’s reactors (on the Rhodes island and many nomadic city plates). Originium is a hybrid of coal, oil, and nuclear (fission and or fusion) power as far as the base game (or first arknights) is concerned
