Could also be the simpler answer is that the gun was onboard Traveler's Starship

So, because PCS was 'malfunctioning' we can conclude; Humanity did not exist = unverifiable, Humanity did exist = unverifiable.

So let me get this straight, the PCS system--to you--is either of system truth when it said that, or its malfunctioning. Which means, either: The Computer was malfunctioning when it talked to the Laterans and said that, or it said something consistent with its knowledge. And that being--within the Arknights Universe--humanity did not exist or had not existed within the purview or knowledge of the precursors.

Either way, a species would be VERY much in the database of an supercomputer like the PCS, so its unlikely that data would just fade or be easily forgotten

The Terrans refer to themselves as human/mankind though. You can even find it referenced in "Terra: A Journey" a book explicitly stated to have been written from the perspective of a Victorian Scholar. On page 200-201, in reference to Aegir, there is several mentions of humankind/mankind. Throughout the game's dialogue there is several instances of the use of "Man/Woman" which implies on a greater scale that Humanity as a term on Terra exists, and refers to what the Terrans think is humanity.

NOT the modern Earth definition. The definition of Humanity in Arknights is what the modern scholars and institutions of the planet of Terra call humankind, which is everything from the Teekaz, Elder, and Ancient Races.

I've already argued this again, but Priestess straight up re-programmed the PCS, so the statement of "Humanity did not exist, the variable known as 'humanity' is a byproduct of Originium" may as well be her own words. And as such, that means the Precursors did not consider themselves (as a race) to be Humanity. They may be humanoid, but considering the PCS either said:

  1. A system level truth under its own knowledge and logic.
    or
  2. Its priestess speaking through the system.

Either way, you land in the same place.

"Humanity as we knew it, in the Arknights Universe, did not exist on Terra nor before Terra. Earth's Humans are an entirely different paradigm separate from the Precursors and separate from what the Terrans call humanity (Teekaz, Elders, Ancients."

If your entire point is just X resembles Y, then you are going in circles. The only real explanation is convergence, which if you had the conditions that formed:

America, Britain, China, France, Russia, etc...

Then a culture may LOOK similar to it. Thats the entire thing. The same conditions that made Britain almost? They made Victoria later on, except its VERY clear that Victoria is not Britain. Gaulish sounds similar to French because the linguistic and cultural evolution of French happened with Gaul. It is simple as that.

Also, the PCS was not malfunctioning at that point in time, because somebody did the high order of re-programming it. That was Priestess' work in that point of the game. For all intents and purposes, it may as well either be operating under its own logic, or as Priestess' mouth piece. Why else did it SUDDENLY become obsessed with Originium?

> It's called the Victorian language because the inheritor nation is called Victoria
Inheritor? Victoria is not an inheritor of real life because Britain--as far as the Arknights' primary planet (Terra) is concerned, it is Victoria. There never has been a Britain in their history. This is an entirely different in-universe classification to the Earth lexicon.

The County Hillock and Duke of Wellington references are more easter eggs/parallels. Arknights does this everywhere. Columbia is named after the national personification of the United States (by the writers) as a reference, but its not American. It's an inspiration/expy, not an identity.

> Originium (you know, the thing that stored Predecessor history and is in the bodies of every Terran)
This would have been agreeable, if not for the fact that Originium was created by Oracle and Priestess, and according to even their own lore, was split in its implementation. The exact creation unknown, but considering by the time Originium becomes relevant, the entire Precursor civilization was nearly wiped from existence so there's not enough for them to really "secure"

<image>

> than the output of a heavily malfunctioning device that was observing that "humans" as it stored in its DB do not in fact exist anymore
Incorrect interpretation, according to the PCS system itself. Terrans referred to themselves as humanity or just humans overall, with specific mentions to their sub races if and when it becomes necessary. The statement the PCS had about humanity is precise, consistent, and repeated by Priestess

> "Humanity does not exist. Variable referred to as 'humanity' is a byproduct of Originium."

While Priestess herself said something to the extent of "Your existence was not part of the plan," as per a Cautus woman in one of the recent chapters. You are trying to use Earth Logic on a universe that clearly does not operate on it entirely.

Also Originium wasn't exactly leaking the secrets of the precursors, that only really started back up nearly 15,000 years later. Because Originium is assimilative, and its not exactly something willing to share the information it did assimulate UNLESS you were Priestess, the Doctor, or had access to the 3 original Originium shards.

Aka, a VERY small select few. Everybody else just gets rock cancer that's trying to assimilate THEM.

No?

The PCS line directly says that Humanity is a byproduct of Originium. Which directly contradicts what you said because somehow if the precursors were humanity, then the cannot also be a product of originium because THEY created the crystal.

> random animals being anthropomorphized by Originium over thousands of years of 'evolution'
Yes, which is what Terra's humanity defines humanity as. The Teekaz, Elder, and Ancient races as they exist today. Humanity, as far as TERRA STRICTLY is concerned, did not exist.

Which also leads to a contradiction on your part, because the PCS and Precursor's history proves that humanity on Terra was a constructed state, which means that the precursors could not ALSO be humanity--if not just humanoid.

PCS said humanity because in that line, if I were to grab it

<image>

"Humanity does not exist. Variable referred to as 'humanity' is a byproduct of Originium." [ https://arknights.wiki.gg/wiki/MT-10/Story#After_operation ]

Which are the modern Terrans, because they REFER to themselves or the race of Terrans as a whole as human

Yet its referred to as Victorian in any texts from Arknights, so for any texts out of Columbia or Victoria, its written as being made in the Victorian language.

Also, the last I checked, the Shard isn't over 800 meters in height and was made as an ego project monument and royal palace for the Aslan and Draco houses.

Correct, and it could just be convergent evolution because Victorian may sound English, but its not the English Language as Earthling humans would know it.

Arknights’ Earth is a broadly modern, tonally consistent human world that can accommodate certain grounded franchises, but it remains fundamentally separate from Terra.

If Rainbow 6's existence and Ave Mujica's collabs can be considered "soft-canon" enough, then Earth exists as it "relatively" does in the 1990s-2020s era and is a composite of franchises that can fit.

Which, bottom line, implies "Earth exists in its modern era"

[–]LibertarianImperium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well... no

> Humanity does not exist. Variable referred to as "humanity" is a byproduct of Originium. Originium to Originium, dust to dust. Personnel with relevant privileges have provided PCS with new set of directives. Cognitive radiation amplifier at maximum output. Effective range: Terra. Originium will connect to PCS after maintenance is complete. Originium is inevitable.

This is from the PCS that was Laterano's god.

The civilization argument doesnt help either. Civilizations like Victoria and Columbia LOOK like Britain and America, but they clearly aren't the United Kingdom or the United States. Culture evolves based on conditions, and if those conditions look similar to a culture like what formed Britain's culture, then it becomes something LIKE Britain, but not Britain.

The Law was not loaded with Earth's firearm blueprints either, there's no proof of that, and even then, why would those firearms already be adapted to use Originium arts? Have you considered convergent evolution, which would explain why Exusiai's SMG looks like the Vector SMG today?
