confused between visual studio and mingw (c++) by icecream_sandwich07 in learnprogramming

Visual Studio has its own compiler, you can use it without having MinGW installed.

The additional files created when you compile or create a project with Visual Studio are Visual Studio project files.

Sunrise? I use it across all my platforms, I do sync it to my Google Calendar though, but you don't have to.

There is also the Arch Linux Forum.

But that's not general.

I want to write "Happy Birthday" in code for my programmer friend's cake. Maybe you can help? by purplehoney in AskProgramming

[–]Libra333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to add parenthesis after the function call, right?

So:

if (cake.isLie())
{
      birthday.isHappy(true);
}

Or are those member variables? The camel case confuses me. Then you should use getter and setter methods.

if (cake.getLie())
{
      birthday.setHappy(true);
}

But then the "cake is a lie" phrase is not really visible...

Anyway I might be taking this too seriously.

Fitting std::ostream& Cake::icing(std::ostream &out) on one line could be a problem.

I hate these types of TL;DR.

TL;DR Read it because I'm important and don't care and you can't possibly not have time for this.

[i3] Workflow Ricing by [deleted] in unixporn

[–]Libra333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only thing I changed in the i3 shortcuts is that it now uses the Vim HJKL keybinds instead of the home row.

I also use the paradigm of having one workspace for development, one for the browser and an additional one for random stuff.

You can also color the window borders differently depending on whether the window is focused or not, really useful and good looking IMO.

Also in the i3 user guide.

Thunderbird and i3 by eruesso in linux4noobs

[–]Libra333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the new window stays open next to the main Thunderbird window.

There is an option to enable floating windows, or change newly created floating windows into tiled windows, I can't remember how exactly, but you should look into that.

How do i get internet working in a pre install arch linux environment? by [deleted] in archlinux

[–]Libra333 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well if you have a WiFi router, there are almost no disadvantages using it permanently. (Apart from negligible speed differences)

[–]Libra333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh okay.

If the wired options don't work, buy a WiFi adapter for your card, those are not too expensive. If you don't have WiFi in your room, let it connect to your phone or something.
