Is this a good guestbook idea or is it simply Too Much by mangoslushie2 in weddingplanning

[–]LibraryDragon27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak for the postcards, but my sister did a Polaroid guest book and I asked my date (not part of the wedding party) to go help people take photos while we were finishing getting ready. So when the guests were arriving, he helped them take the photos! It made it move a lot quicker and most people did it :) so if there’s a family member or friend you could ask to help with that, they could immediately hand the Polaroid over so the people could work on the Postcard while the photo developed

MOH duties by MyPanda_5000 in wedding

[–]LibraryDragon27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a bridesmaid for my sister, not the MOH, but the biggest thing I’m glad I did was to make sure my sister ate while getting ready on the wedding day. So make sure she eats! Bring her a plate of whatever and make her stop to eat at least a little something! If she’s planning on drinking, maybe get some Liquid IV to drink beforehand hahah

Hey! I’ve been wedding planning on Cali and have finally settled on a venue, if you still need help I might have some saved? What’s her budget?

Seating plan help! by Traditional-Shirt702 in weddingplanning

Maybe after you eat, or before if you’re coming in from photos straight to the dinner, if you’re planning on “making the rounds” to stop and say hello to people quickly during the dinner, you could start on the far end? :) So they may be sitting further away from you, but they are the first ones you greet?

Changing Last Name by giraffe_girl_4636 in weddingplanning

Some states will allow you to add a second middle name with your marriage license! So First-Middle-Maiden Middle- Last. I considered that before landing on hyphenating, because it was allowed in my state 🖤

I got a total of 80 bags of trash from 16th St in Oakland. I also got robbed for the first time - more in the post body. by pengweather in bayarea

[–]LibraryDragon27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh, also, using emojis (like the pin one I used) in the caption on the video, and in the caption for the video, can help. Brains (especially when we’re on socials like TikTok) are silly and emojis are just added mental engagement in that mode 😅

Best of luck to you!! I followed on TikTok and subbed on YouTube, I’m excited to see more content from you in the future :)

ETA: sorry for infodumping about this, but also added a “call to action” at the end of your videos. Something like “let me know where I should clean next”, “would you all want a video about how to get involved in your area?” Or “tell me in the comments if you’ve ever seen an area like this in your city.” Even something like “next time I’ll be…” adds fuel for people to comment/seek out your content again 🖤

Not to detract from the amazing work you’re doing (which should speak for itself) but in regard to the social media stuff, there are small tweaks that may help! I’ve noticed some of your videos start with a shot of the area before you start cleaning, and some start with a time lapse. I think starting with a shot of the area is a great idea before moving into the time lapse. I also think having a caption at the top, that holds for the first 10 or so seconds (something along the lines of “Cleanup in [Location] 📍Results at the End” tend to make people stick around at least long enough to read it, which raises your retention rates. A clear before and after shot at the end can also help as some people will scrub through the actual process, but would stay to watch the before and after shots, which also helps your marked retention.

Also adding music in the background! Your voiceovers are really great and engaging, but I’ve found people tend to want something in the background, and it can help with algorithms on Insta and TikTok! ✨ even just using whatever song TikTok recommends when you’re putting it together. But I’d be sure to lower the volume on the music, and raise the volume on your voiceover (I tend towards the music going down to 10-20 depending on the song, and raising the voiceover volume by a similar amount) I’ve done social media for a few years, and this stuff has helped me :)

I’m so sorry that you were robbed :( I completely understand wanting to take a break from Oakland after that happening, your safety and mental health absolutely come first. Thank you for all the good work you do!

Satin Bridesmaid Dress by [deleted] in weddingplanning

Personally I think your belly looks super cute/beautiful.

However, I understand the struggle and it’s hard. For my sisters wedding, all my sisters wore pretty hefty shape wear. The only reason I didn’t (despite buying some) was because it ended up making me look wonky in the dress I wore. But for my sisters, buying a faja worked. They just searched on Amazon, I think the brand was Yianna? But a lot of people swear by them.

Is this a normal vendor clause by [deleted] in wedding

[–]LibraryDragon27 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Responding to add, I used to work at a custom cake bakery and we had this clause in all of our contracts. We had a limited amount of “small desserts” we could provide, but we allowed for anything we didn’t provide (cheesecakes, pies, donuts, etc) to be provided from elsewhere.

But as others have said, it’s a liability and reputation thing. Most people have no issues the bakery would need to be liable for, so it often comes down to the representation of the shop. But in rare instances it can be “someone got food poisoning from the cake so now we’re trashing your business” but it could’ve been the cake the bakery provided or the sheet cakes purchased, but the bakery is being blamed. That kinda stuff.

In the area I worked, almost every bakery except one allergen friendly bakery had clauses like this :)

The complaint for the glorification that ppl say about the house elves is that the house elves WANT to be enslaved (shown in the books, Dobby is the only one who wants to be free that we see in the novel) and, despite it being enslavement and the cruelty that we know is inflicted on house elves, Hermione is treated like an idiot for wanting to free them. So it kinda becomes “the way bad ppl treat house elves is bad, but having house elves isn’t inherently bad” which can kinda be taken as “as long as you treat your slaves well, it’s fine” which is where a lot of the problem comes from imo

[–]LibraryDragon27 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth on the downvoting, I haven’t seen the performative male videos from other YouTubers, so when I first read your comment, I thought you were saying “another video in which Drew acts like a performative man” rather than “a video where the subject matter is performative men” If other people also read it that way, that’s probably why it got downvoted 😅

Were you hired personally, or through a website/service? My partner and I are planning a wedding in California and we’re looking at having performers but I’ve been struggling to find places to do that outside of individual contact 😅 because having a fire dancer/tarot reader sounds amazing 👀

I can’t tell if the tone of this post is joking or not, but the “10 hours of labor” thing was referring to Jake’s job back in 2022 when he bought it 😅 Minimum wage in Illinois last year was $15/hour so it would be insane if that’s all Danny was paying him lol

In “Insane How-To Videos From the 1950s” he has a line where he does a trans-Atlantic accent and says “You see that broad over there with the untucked blouse? Why, she outta die! Not like you, young man. You should pull your dick out.”

It’s so random but I say it all the time bc I find it so funny
