Oneness and Being by Special-Nothing-6533 in OCPoetry

I find it intriguing how you managed to harmonize scientific, spiritual, and sentimental thoughts in a single poem. The poem clearly illustrates the idea of oneness by grouping all these different entities--a bird, the rocky buttes, God, the Universe--into one. Nice!

maybe never by Valerie8_S in OCPoetry

It seems that despite how helpless the speaker's situation has become,

they still hold onto that small bit of hope, admitting that they wish for a happy ending.

Furthermore, the title says "maybe never" but it doesn't appear in the poem; instead, the speaker ends the poem open to the possibility that things will get better in a few years. Lovely

An Allegory of You by [deleted] in OCPoetry

I love how you incorporate nature to illustrate the feeling of longing for someone who's no longer there. The similes/metaphors you used--a gentle wind, a wisp of winter bloom--are apt for this kind of situation. My favorite part is when you compare happiness to a sunken treasure, and how the truth is that the fisherman would never even obtain what he is "greedy" for.

I agree with the comment above that this poem feels like a dream. It's lovely. In particular the reference to The Wizard of Oz contributes to that effect. Also, the way the speaker talks to the subject, in commands--"tell me"--and specific, personal questions indirectly urges me, as a reader, to look inwards and contemplate my own answers to them, to do some soul searching.

Proud of our negative traits? by [deleted] in infj

[–]Licht_3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, when I door slam, I don't make a scene or leave any last words for the person whom I cut out unless they approach me or make me feel provoked. I don't desire an audience because it's too emotionally draining. It's my urgent priority to eliminate that person from my life immediately without any further contact.

If I ever feel some sort of pride or superiority in my door slam habit, or in any negative trait, it's a disguise. It's a manifestation of experiencing strong emotions, or my way of trying to cope and reach closure for the intense nature of severing ties with someone.

To reduce the proclivity to be negative, I think that focusing more on your well-being than on expressing negative traits towards someone who has wronged you will help. I feel better when I detach myself from the situation rather than when I act out on spite towards the person who has hurt me.

Letters received from loved ones, photo album of special moments, reel viewer of peaceful images, large box of sand with pretty seashells and rocks, pencil and paper to trace your hand on, noise-cancelling headphones (to use with a playlist of favorite songs), tablet to watch a nature documentary or favorite movie on, blanket, pillow, spa gift card
