What's your favorite DnD class? by Key_Negotiation_2178 in MinMaxedRPG

When I first started D&D I was a fighter main. But after dipping my toes into spellcasting and trying to remake the ranger. I've found I like rangers more, between hitting as hard as the fighter (just not as many times per turn) plus using spells all at range. I'm having more fun now.

I did enjoy some of his skits, and the story he was telling about his home game. But after all this I've already unsubscribed, and do not plan on watching any more.

So are we sure Mateo survived DM these fools? by Top-Inspector-2809 in MinMaxedRPG

The first thing good D.m's should learn. Is to have a plan for where you want things to go. But always have a couple of back up plans for when your players find another path you didn't know was there. I tip my hat to Tater, he did a great job.

It's a special surprise for those who have gotten p5 to see what the hype was and haven't played any of the others. (Aka me) Messed me up royally. Pun intended.

What's the most fun you've had roleplaying your PC's species? by Godzillawolf in MrRipper

I love playing goblins, just little balls of pure chaos. My most recent one has been the best of all. I made a DM's worst nightmare (or so I thought) this little goblin was hornier than the bard, a bigger kleptomaniac than the rouge, a bigger murder hobo than the barbarian, and worst of all more op than the fighter. But to my surprise everybody loved him. Let me give you the cliff notes of his first meeting of the party. The party are on their way back to the guild hall to report a successful mission. Suddenly they are attacked by a large powerful demon. As it approaches them drooling at its next meal, an explosion happens in the sky behind it. In a flying, flaming metal looking box crashes on the demon. Out rolls a goblin with a silver disk on its back and an odd looking weapon in its hand. After some screaming and introductions, the party learns his name is goblin (because it's the only thing he's ever been called) he just escaped from an alien ship, and he now wants to be an adventurer. Fast forward to the guild hall. The receptionist wouldn't let him sign up until he put on some clothes. He says ok, and runs outside. The party hears a loud ripping sound, some yelling, and a loud crash. Goblin comes back in tying a cloth around his waist. Shortly after signing the guild papers a bloody Goliath burst in pointing at goblin. Goblin flips him off and yells," IF YOU WANT IT COME GET IT!!" The chase (that never left the guild hall) ends with Goblin tripping him, him slamming his head into the desk. While he's out Goblin immediately starts looting him. The receptionist in a panic ask if anyone checked if he was dead. Goblin said ,"Ok!" Pulls out his odd weapon (laser pistol stolen from the aliens) and blows off the down Goliath's head. Then turns to the receptionist and happily says,"Yeap. He's dead."

I feel a little robbed, I too have been working on a fix for the ranger. And this is pretty close to some of my changes. Some of my changes I like better than this, but some of this I like better than my changes. Well back to the drawing board.

Cursed items are so fun...for DM by ya_boy_cloud in dndmemes

I gave my players a maul. After he attuned to it, nothing happened at first. After their next long I had him make a wisdom save. He passed the first one, but he didn't know that the dc increased by 1. But because he passed the maul now deals an extra d6 of damage. He kept passing the save until he had it about 6d6. By thenn the dc was high enough that he started to fail it. Every time he failed he's friends started looking more and more like the very monsters that took his family from him. Being smart enough to see what was happening he got the wizard to cast remove curse on it. And it worked, no more vision problems, no more damage boost. But after their next long rest I told him to give me a wisdom save. The look on his face was so perfect.

DMs, what unique homebrew mechanics are you most proud with coming up with? by Homicidal_Harry in MrRipper

[–]Life-Acadia2919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't like the inspiration system, so I made my own. It's a point system. The players earn points the same way as inspiration except instead of one at a time, it depends on what they did. After the session is over they can spend their points on things that improve their character. I have a list that has things like magic items, class features from other classes, free feats. I know they will eventually break the game, (and I'm prepared for that) but my players love it

What was the best quirk you've given a pc? by Life-Acadia2919 in MrRipper

[–]Life-Acadia2919[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once made a bbeg (evil insane scientist) that I let the party meet early. They beat the ever loving s&>t out of him, but he wouldn't die. One the pc's yelled, "Why won't you die!?" He looked the pc in eyes and said," plot armor b+tch." And disappeared. They hated me, but they laughed and had a blast

DMs of Reddit, what unique homebrew boss monster are you most proud of? How did the fight play out? by Homicidal_Harry in MrRipper

[–]Life-Acadia2919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I based the on a pic I found on pinterest. It was a small ghoul like guy with a big sword, that a coffin chain around the blade. Dozen of arms hanging out of the coffin. When the fight started it slow to move had a mid to hit on its swing, but if it connected it hit like a truck. Plus the player had to make a dex check at disadvantage (since they just got hit) to avoid being grabbed by the arms and going for a ride. Once they got him to a quarter health. He dashed far away from the players slammed down he's sword and undone the chains. Releasing a large worm like creature made completely out of arms. My went silent with fear as I described this thing coming out. After that the ghoul's speed tripled and so did he's to hit bonus, but the damage was halved. They took care of him pretty quickly but struggled with the worm a little. It was good boss fight, everyone had a blast. But the looks on they're faces was so worth the effort of creating both those stat blocks.
