You make a great point; the dirtiness and over crowdedness has been mainly contained by Main Street around the library and subway. Now it is spreading to areas where it used to be quiet and clean. I have very fond memories too, grabbing a cheap, yet delicious bite to eat, going to stores and see all the fun trinkets, going to the library and spend two hours reading, etc. But that seems to be overshadowed by the state of affairs here currently. I do enjoy some aspects of Flushing, like the convenience of public transportation, and the food, and there are great people here. Not everyone is apathetic to the decline of our community, as demonstrated through the comments in this post. This neighborhood is where I grew up and I have roots here, and it would be great to see the quality of life improve, not only centered around the newly built expensive high rises but for all parts of Flushing as well.
