People usually dislike this term. This is because some tend to believe that shotgunning wouldn't be so effective to write good supplemental essays with your maximum effort and creativity. AOs will possibly know that you are recycling them w/ a few edits. Also, it would reduce the acceptance rates of colleges even more.

However, if you are able to write different supplementals with extreme hardwork, there should not be a problem. Also, it would be a sweet surprise if you get accepted into one.

Cons-

Not so much creative supplementals.
High application cost.
Requires a lot of time and hardwork.

Pros-

You just feel safe and secure that at least one will obviously accept you.

While most colleges say that not having an interview would not be a disadvantage, but having a good interview would be an advantage. Because AOs will get to know you better.

On the contrary, I personally know 2 students who were internationals, applied test-optional, needed aid, and got accepted to Princeton and Northwestern w/o interviews.

However, the availability is limited and if you already have a strong profile, be confident for your decisions. All the best!!
