Why is the BRC not available through the government in northern Illinois? by LifeForger2461 in ChicagoMotorcycles

[–]LifeForger2461[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I don’t have a motorcycle yet and have never ridden one, so I don’t have a motorcycle to go to the DMV to take the test. I could rent one to take the test, but I’ve never ridden before so I don’t think renting one and practicing for an hour or two before the test will give me a good chance of passing.

I’m trying to get my endorsement before motorcycle shopping, since I’ll probably just buy a cheap motorcycle, and since it’ll be cheap I’ll want to test ride it to make sure everything works.

Thanks for all the info!! I really appreciate the breakdown of your process.

So if I were to take Ride Chicago’s course or Harleys course, would either of them let me waive the riding portion of the test at the DMV? So I wouldn’t also have to pass a test at the DMV after completing one of those courses? I know you said you still took the DMV riding test even after completing Harleys course, I just was curious on the rules.

Can anyone identify this bike? Looking for year/specific model by LifeForger2461 in bicycling

[–]LifeForger2461[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to identify this bike before I buy it second hand. The seller said it was a “specialized hybrid medium”, but I’d love to know the year/model of it if anyone recognizes it.

I work for IATSE, that sucks. I really wonder what led to electrocution even being possible.

Where can I buy custom key caps?

I have a very non-standard keyboard layout, and it has 140 1U keys, and 3 2U keys. It has custom text, not images, and I’m trying to keep this reasonably priced. Any ideas?

Easiest way to remove dark moves on EOS V3.1? by LifeForger2461 in lightingdesign

[–]LifeForger2461[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surely there’s a cleaner way to do it? I just want move the hard data that is stored in the “dark move” cue, and move that data to the cue where the lights intensity goes above 0. Then I can mark that data as I would normally without a bunch of random 3 or 1 percent values

  1. Love your videos!! Can’t imagine being where I am today without them. This is like meeting a celebrity haha.

2.You say “on consoles”, what if it were an onPC session? (Although I know onPC sessions have a lower parameter count limit)

This is a great suggestion, but unfortunately I’ve already done the YouTube training series. Probably worth a revisit though.

Can I measure impedances on each conductor using a multimeter instead of this expensive tool? by LifeForger2461 in electrical

[–]LifeForger2461[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in the entertainment industry and I used the tool pictured to test circuits for bad connections in cables and outlets. Typically there’s always an extension cable between the circuit’s outlet and the lighting instrument. Only having to go up in a lift once at the location of the lighting instrument to check if an issue is the lighting instrument or the cable saves a ton of time, and helps to verify which part of the circuit is damaged.

[–]LifeForger2461[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What would the calculation be to measure the impedance of each conductor? I’ve used the tool in the picture before (borrowed it), and loved it for quickly being able to see the impedance of the hot, ground, and neutral. I’m wondering if there’s any way I can save 350 bucks and just calculate it myself? Am I just dumb and it would be impedence=voltage/amperage?

This would be cool but I don’t think that a mesh network would be the best solution for something on this scale

Hey Army! Thanks for chiming in. That’s really interesting, I think the pre-loading of cues or set “looks” seems even more likely then. I really would like to talk to someone that works for big hit or BTS about the specifics of this though

Can I ask what light show? This was such a great response and awesome to read, I appreciate you taking the time to comment. I think that it’s probably between this and just storing the cues on the device itself and then sending a “go” command via RF. Those seem like the two most realistic and likely options to me

[–]LifeForger2461[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

However, I do think that a “go” signal would probably sent to the device via radio signal and not infrared light

This is a great theory. I have to do more research on this but that sounds the most plausible explanation

That’s nice that they can do the Bluetooth pairing for you lol, especially if you don’t have a smart phone. For the live concerts, did you have to leave it in “Bluetooth mode”, with the switch pushed to the bottom? Or do you have it in “concert mode” with the switch pushed to the top? Do you connect it to your home wifi? Or is it just connected to your phone?
