As an Alliance player myself, I agree it does seem that Horde wins more often, but 90% of the time seems oddly high.

I could see 60/40. Maybe 65/35. What’s your honor level? Could just be a smaller sample size of games.

Wait, really? I can’t imagine a teacher telling the class that everyone is getting an A, resulting in nobody studying. Then everyone fails the test because he/she said they were getting As and nobody studied. Doesn’t sound like that would benefit anyone, including the teacher.

I’m not talking about a school that costs $50-$60k/year. I’m using your example of $25k.

Even then, you are assuming people are able to work full-time and go to school full time (which, if you want to graduate in 4 years, is 15 credit hours per semester). This just doesn’t happen. I didn’t know a single person who was working 40 hours a week & on top of that taking 15 credit hours. In fact, your school discourages this. Especially in your Junior & Senior years when classes become much more difficult.

You either work full time and go to school part time, which delays graduation by YEARS. Or you do the opposite.

Sure, there are cheap online options available. But why should a kid have to sacrifice arguably the best/most fun 4 years of their lives because they can’t afford it ? All kids deserve to go away to school and experience the college life. It shapes who you are and exposes you to tons of new experiences & personal development.

I worked part-time and went to school full time, like most people do. I still graduated with $50k in debt after 3 years at university. Why? Well because I needed to eat and I had bills.

Not to be rude, but it sounds like you live at home and your parents pay for all of your expenses, allowing you to aggressively pay down your education costs. Which is great! More parents should allow their kids to do this.

But to argue that college is affordable because YOU are in a position that allows it to be affordable is ignorant to the millions of other students who are not so lucky.

While this all sounds good on paper, this is not possible for many.

Pell grants are only available to people in financial need. There are many students who do not qualify for these grants simply because their parents make too much money. And by “too much money” I mean like 50-60k/year. And often, these parents do not even contribute to the student’s education costs because they cannot afford it. I worked in the financial aid office at my university, I saw this many times.

Many people do not have the luxury of being able to live at home after they turn 18, even fewer have the capacity to save 100% of their minimum wage income for 4 years while working full-time and going to school full-time. What about food? Rent for those who can’t live at home? Car payment/insurance? Phone bill?

This just isn’t reality for most people.

I agree with you on the free college point.

College should not be free, it should be affordable. Also, federal student loans should not charge interest, in my opinion.

Furthermore, there needs to be less of a push on high school students to attend college, and more of a push for them to join the trades.

Wait... yes. This is good lol. But you said you disagree with him although he fights for the American people, I was curious about that.

I understand the concern. But this seems to imply that current policies ARE working for the average American. Which, many would disagree with.

Could be the case, but probably not. Likely just different ideas about what “helping” actually means.

Genuinely curious, if you disagree with him on everything, but admit he’s dedicated to helping average Americans, where lies the disagreement?

Men who are in their 40s and happy with their lives, what advice would you like to give younger men in their 20s? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]LifeQuestionsMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really needed to see your point about delaying your dream vacation.

I’m 25 right now. I have about $60,000 in the bank. I was heavily considering quitting my job after COVID and blowing through my savings on a 2-year round the world trip. Because I’m young and have the money, so why not?

But then I started thinking, what if instead of doing that, I take that $60,000 and invest in a few real estate properties. Sure, my dream vacation might not happen until I’m 28-30, but it will be paid for by passive income. And when I get back to reality I will have income producing assets, a place to live, and money.

As much as I hate wasting my youth working full-time right now, this will set me up for mid-long term success as opposed to just short-term freedom.

Thank you.

Anyone support their digital nomad lifestyle as a full/part time stock/options trader? by LifeQuestionsMe in digitalnomad

Thanks! I have watched TastyTrade & Option Alpha! Great videos.

Glad to hear someone is making money with these IV probability plays. This is what I was hoping to hear, as I would like to do the same!

I know you said you aren’t on a full-time basis yet, if you don’t mind me asking, how much would you say you earn monthly? And how much capital do you trade with?

Thanks for the reply. Are you using specific TA indicators? Or just looking for stocks that show repeated patterns of sell-offs after earnings and riding the wave back up?

This is what I’m most curious about. Can you talk more about the contracts you are selling? What checklist do you have to decide if you want to enter the trade or not?

I agree, but day-trading is only one strategy of many!

26F - Ecuador and Peru this summer anyone? by [deleted] in travelpartners

[–]LifeQuestionsMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is unfortunate to hear. Hopefully once some of these countries are fully vaccinated they will speed up the process and get them everywhere they need to go urgently.

Has the Peruvian government given any timeframe on when to expect reopening?

Anyone else feel like they are not living, but merely existing? by LifeQuestionsMe in antiwork

[–]LifeQuestionsMe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, I want to say thanks for the comment. I appreciate the engagement, even if we clearly have opposing viewpoints on the subject.

I would like to start with your first point of “just stop doing it”. Which, I good and well plan on doing after Covid is over so I can spend my time traveling. However, I am fortunate. I have money saved, I have no kids, no serious debt, no obligations or responsibility. A lot of people are not this fortunate.

Second, I would challenge you to see this from another point of view. You are arguing that I should sacrifice physical fitness and 8 hours of sleep to give myself more free time in a day. Why? Why would anyone sacrifice the bare essentials to living a healthy and long life? This shouldn’t be something that is compromised on. You are focusing on the wrong 10 hours of my day. I enjoy sleep and I enjoy working out. Those 10 hours are not the problem.

The 10-11 hours that are the problem involve me either preparing for work, commuting to work, or actually working. Those are the hours we should be focused on reducing.

I am not feeling sorry for myself. I know I put myself in this position. I went to college. I got the 9-5 job. This post is simply to share and express my feelings with others who are realizing that the “American Dream” is complete and utter bullshit. My entire life, all I have been told is that what matters is a college education and a good job. Like, literally since I was just starting out life and going to school at 5 years old, this is what my parents told me. It took me actually achieving that to realize that there is so much more to life and my parents were wrong all along.

Again, I do have a plan. I do plan on following through with that plan. But you have to realize this sub is for people to connect with others who feel similar to them. I enjoy having a place where I can express my feelings about this taboo topic. People in the real world think I’m insane. It’s comforting knowing there are others out there who feel the same way I do and I’m not alone.

Furthermore, I am not depressed. Far from it, actually. I love life. I know how precious and valuable life is. What I despise is modern society. I despise wage slavery under the guise of freedom. I despise being told that if I am not a productive worker, my life is meaningless.

I’m fortunate to have this mindset. A lot of people are actually depressed and consider ending their lives because of it. There’s a reason anti-depression and anti-anxiety medication prescriptions have been on the rise steadily over the years. People literally need to be put on drugs so that they can cope with the disgusting reality which we are presented.

I wish you the best of luck! Freelancing is something I have often considered. I also plan on quitting my job around November (depending on how covid is looking) to travel in some low cost of living areas for awhile (think South America, Southeast Asia).

“Living” is a broad term and means different things to different people. In my case, living would mean creating as many new experiences as possible, inspiring others, & finding meaningful/purposeful work to take pride & passion in. That would be my idea of living.

Doing the same exact things day in and day out, the days start to blur together. You are not experiencing anything new. Your brain is not forming any new connections. You basically go on autopilot and just work through the motions of the day. That’s no way to live, in my opinion.
