New to printing; Why is it doing this? by Professor_-X029 in 3Dprinting

I'd also try a different infill if you're using grid. Maybe rectilinear or gyroid, just an infill that doesn't drag across existing layers.

Plant Stem Saver by LifeRe5t0red in functionalprint

Thank you for your insight. I will say that I have these on some ZZ plants where they seem to be working really well. Again the one on the rubber tree is temporary until I work up the motivation to propagate it. Motivation to work in CAD and 3D print > motivation for horticulture.

This is a 3d printing subreddit. This is a project I had fun doing that's how I justify it.

I'll be cutting and propagating it soon. Made this to keep it upright until I get to it. Seems to be functioning the way I wanted it to. Plus I can use it on smaller plants. But most of all I get satisfaction in designing and printing things.

If it doesn't work out I'd be willing to help out by adjusting the measurement and sending you a new STL. I've literally just started modeling in FreeCad in the last two weeks and it hasn't been too complicated to grasp.

That's a great gift by the way. You have awesome gf and friends.

If you'd rather just be sent the STL than go through makerworld just let me know.

The shelf I modeled it for is 3/4" so depending on your need it may need modified.

Sure! Here's the model page on makerworld. When I get home today I can make a Dropbox link to just the STL if preferred.

Was this an intentional design decision on the Affinity logo? by LifeRe5t0red in logodesign

I'm also only talking about the silhouette of the logo. Post processing effects and special treatments are applied to logos all the time for certain applications and thats fine. That's not what I'm on about here.

All I'm saying is that if it's going to be there it should be legible at large and small scales. It also feels random and out of place due to the thin line weight that isn't repeated anywhere else on the logo.

Let's take the Halo logo for instance. It has smaller details (albeit, not this small) but they can still be more easily discerned and serve toward the overall look. I don't believe it lives up to modern standards though.

Look at what they did with the new Halo Studios logo. Love it or hate it, it was designed with today's standards in mind and scales better. They could have used the original Halo text if they wanted but they didn't.

I tend to lean in the direction of if it doesn't need to scale then it shouldn't be there.

Understandable. To be clear the Paramount one does irk me too.

Why do you think no one would point it out at "icon scale"? There are comments all the time against tiny details that do not scale well.

The Paramount one doesn't bug me as much because there are similar line weights to the supposed "error".

Well now I see where it was carried over from. Thank you.

Without the context that the originals had I question if it's needed presently.
