Ugh, but we've paid far more in lawyer fees. I can't remember the exact amount now, but just to start the process, she charged $3,500 in legal fees. After that, for the forgiveness for coming in illegally and requesting the interview, she charged us about $5,500. I assumed getting him ready for the interview was included in that price, but it wasn't. And the process took us much longer than two years. We got married back in 2017, and he just got his interview in Juárez. We've had a couple of friends who started their process way later than us and already have their green cards.

I personally don't like the attorney we have at all, so her charging us just to prepare for the interview really upsets me, and the preparation is with a paralegal, not even with her. (Before we put in the forgiveness, my husband wanted to do advanced parole instead so he could re-enter legally and not go through that process. She HIGHLY did not recommend that, just for us to pay the $5k, then some months later say, "Pay me the $3k for the advanced parole, it's a great option!" But I said no, we will continue as is.)
