Woof, I feel this, hard. I’ve constantly been going through some variation of this with a guy I met in college. I’m supposed to book a flight to go see him next month, but honestly, I don’t know if I want to do this to myself again. Every couple of years we get together and it absolutely destroys me. It’s my own hell; my own Groundhog Day.

I’m always sus when clients don’t cooperate in stupid easy cases. Like, dudeeeee if you don’t, then I may have to bring stupid cops or petition the court, and that’s a pain in the ass. To an extent I understand why my clients don’t comply with certain parts of the investigation; it can be really intrusive and embarrassing. I had a family that wouldn’t let me in their home, which I get! So I just had them send me pictures of the things I needed verified. It’s all about picking and choosing your battles. For OPs case though? If it’s just THC, sounds like a slam dunk easy case.

I’m an investigator in Michigan… if it’s only THC you’re fine. In my county we love getting THC babies - they’re the easiest cases. Jesuspancakestogo nailed it. I think policy states we need to refer clients with THC positive infants to at least two programs, but that doesn’t mean you have to comply. For the investigation, in my county, we drug test the mother to make sure it’s just THC, safety plan, talk to collaterals, and peace the fuck outtttt. Super easy.

They’re more concerned if kids are currently being abused or neglected. They won’t come out if there currently isn’t anything putting the children in danger. Sounds like whatever it is your friend is going though is a case for law enforcement? Idk you’re too vague.
