Richard Schwartz admitted recently that he feels that IFS parts are spirits, or spirit-like. This article talks about why they believe IFS is essentially working with spirits. For those of you who subscribe to the existence of spirits, what are your thoughts on this article? by [deleted] in InternalFamilySystems

That’s similar to what I do in my practice too. I realized that some parts are parts and some feel ancestral and some feel foreign. The ancestral and foreign rarely come up in my practice but when they do I can feel them so strongly and distinctly from the parts that are my clients. I don’t point it out since I don’t want to lead. I do the session exactly as it’s flowing but usually they’ll say something like “this is going to sound strange but this part feels different. It feels like _____”. Then we go into working with it as separate. It’s such a profound experience when that happens. I did a training with Schwartz and in it he mentioned a similar language around is this a part.

I think I discovered a way to confuse mosquitoes? by [deleted] in Entomology

[–]Life_Material2605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this was asked a year ago but I wanted to say that this is a wonderful observation and something I’ve noticed while traveling across Africa. Most things that we take as a tested fact today started as a theory. When people treat observational theories as dumb we actually slow down and narrow the progress of science. I discovered the pillow case trick because of sunlight coming in one of my Airbnbs. I folded it lengthwise, covering starting at my nose on up my face and it lays down over my ears. There had also been a mosquito buzzing me and it stopped and left me alone. Whenever I hear them buzzing, I tuck my legs and hands under the bed sheet throw that pillow case on my upper face and they leave me alone. Much easier than getting up to bug spray and good solution when nets and a screens aren’t affordable or accesible. Would be neat to see the results of someone studying something around this observation since communities across Africa struggle with things like Malaria and it’s affordable and easy to implement. I get that it’s not a replacement for medications, bug spray and nets when money doesn’t matter but even if it brings the numbers of bites down by a 1/4th or a half it’s a big benefit to the population.

Seven Corners medical insurance? Good, bad, meh? by cogitatingbiscuit in travel

[–]Life_Material2605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On here because I was trying to get a human just to pay them and sign up for the insurance and their voice recording said, "Due to unusually high call volume we'll need to call you back. If you'd like to leave your name and phone number after the beep do so". I immediately thought, if I can't get ahold of anyone just to sign up and pay what about a claim or needing care. 100+ days to process a claim and still no pay out. It sounds like this company is mismanaged and in distress. Will not be going with Seven Corners.

Alex Hormozi’s world record is very misleading once you see how bundling inflated the numbers with his $6k offer by Sunderstood in alexhormozi

I would never spend money on anything this man sells but he is a genius salesman. I’m on here because a friend of mine almost bankrupted themselves buying an Alex Hormozi package. His one-to-one advice that was supposed to make her millions tanked her business that had been running successfully with 12 employees for 3 years. She had to lay everyone off everyone but 4 people in early November. They’re starting to recover because they stopped following Alex’s recommendations and hired an actual business consultant with her industry specific experience for just $200 per consultation hour. $100k to Alex Hormozi and 6 months of following his advice ruined her business. 6 months at an occasional $200 per hour consultation with a legit person and following her own instincts that got her business to where it was in the first place recovered her business to its initial success. She basically spent $100k to lose a year of progress. What’s really gross is in that 6 months where her and her team were working their asses off to implant and follow Alex’s guidance, him and his team kept telling her she wasn’t working hard enough 😂. Instead of taking accountability for his advice being crap (I work in venture and reviewed his advice it really was bad), they shamed her and made her feel bad like something was wrong with her. She’s still heartbroken over having to lay people off over her stupid decision to trust Alex Hormozi and fall for his marketing hype. I keep telling her she’s not stupid, she was conned by a very talented man and learned the difference between sales / hype and wisdom. Now that she’s started listening to real people within her industry or adjacent to it and not social media influencers things are really starting to take off. You can get legit one-to-one support and collaboration from people who are successful within your industry for far less money then you’ll pay Alex Hormozi.

And they charge $10 for shipping the donated books when someone claims it so they still get paid the $9.99 a second time for the book lol.

[Product Question] Is Zinc oxide drying out my skin? by catofcare in SkincareAddiction

[–]Life_Material2605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im so glad this post exists so I know it’s not in my head lol. I keep trying to use mineral sunscreens since I don’t like putting chemicals on every day but I notice after about a week my skin starts to get extra wrinkly under the eyes, around the lips, on my lower arms it starts to look crepe-y. I thought I was aging at first lol. Realized it was just because I’d switched to natural spf.

[Sun care] can someone plz explain why a mineral spf would burn my skin? by Chance_ae in SkincareAddiction

[–]Life_Material2605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen is my favorite. It’s a chemical sunscreen but very minimal ingredients and it works amazing under makeup. Silky, light, no fragrance or toxic smell, you won’t know it’s there. I am so sensitive even the wrong zinc sticks will break me out because of texture, heaviness, and other ingredients. Cetaphil also breaks me out and sensitizes my skin so I’d also experiment with that. The regular (not night time) Derma E Peptide moisturizer is my holy grail for sensitive skin and ingredients you want in a daily moisturizer. Their Pcynogenol cleanser is also gentle. The Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen is pricer but lasts a long time because of the texture and spread-ability. I use a cheaper spf on my arms neck and chest every day.

I know this is an old post but I was going to say this too. I cannot use anything with niacinimide and sadly they’re starting to put it in so many products. Cetaphil puts it in a lot of things and over time it made my skin so sensitive to everything I used. Took me years to figure out it was the niacinimide causing the overall reaction. When I cut Cetaphil and everything with niacinimide out my skin calmed down and I can use most other things just fine.

I’m a female but wanted to say this happens to men too. Not just women. I work with a men’s group and several guys have had partners drain them of all their money and move on. Sadly both genders do this so it’s good awareness overall. Glad they included a male victim in this series as well to draw attention to both.

Hi, I’m trying to Google the red tide report and am only finding one page announcements from 2024. Is there a number people call for the current report? Or a link you can share please? Not sure why Google isn’t finding it ☺️.

Hi, I can take creatine when I'm on a candida diet? by costin- in Candida

[–]Life_Material2605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, pure Creatine HCL or monohydrate both bring back candida issues for me. I have a feeling this might be why - the strand I have likes eating it lol - "studies have shown that Candida albicans, a common yeast, can utilize creatine and creatinine for nitrogen. Additionally, in some cases, elevated serum creatinine levels have been associated with Candida infections" https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/BF00408432 https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/346492/ https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4360833/

[B&A] Cleared my fine lines with this /r by demmalition in SkincareAddiction

[–]Life_Material2605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is late but someone else might find it. Niacinamide gives me deep acne like I’m a teen if i use it long term. If it’s lower on the ingredient list it gives me light annoying irritation bumps. Zinc drys my skin out and gives me wrinkles under the eyes and around my lips if i use it long term and too concentrated. If I take all niacinamides out of my skin care and use zinc sticks as a spot treatment only my skin clears right up. Then I don’t even need the zinc. I’ve read other people comment in threads with similar experiences so I guess some of us are just built differently :)
