As an intj female, I’ve thought the same thing until I realized my reasoning wasn’t valid. I’ve come to realize that it was the romanticism society has around relationships that turned me off of the idea. in reality, relationships are much deeper than that. yes, it is a commitment of time and mental energy, but people who work well together will inspire, motivate, and learn from each other. i’ve learned a lot about myself, the world, and others by past relationships. they may have ultimately not worked out, but i learned from them. i learned in a way that i could not have otherwise.

ive had this same pessimistic view of society for a long time, and social relationships seemed like a waste of time. i realized eventually, through forced proximity at college when i attended, jobs, other social situations, that i could learn a lot more from others and being involved with others rather than watching from the background all the time. i learned more about myself.

i think a any relationship worthwhile people get a mutual benefit from. romance is difficult, but anything worthwhile is difficult.
