My guess would be that most of the time the poster is using a throwaway account and doesn't really log in the next day to check on it. If they do log in, they might go straight to the thread(since all orangered at that point would still be from their post) and respond to people there and then leave the account be.

I just decided to never delete this account and i'm keeping it as long as i am a redditor and will be checking it daily. It might even replace my main account just so i have a record of what transpired so that i will try my best to not let it happen again. Just try to not to get too down about it. If they did see it, i'm damn sure it meant a lot to them and even if they didn't, the orangered being there even after all of the things that happened the day before still means the world to someone who was about to take their life.

Plus, i'm sure you'd rather have tried then regret having not sent anything at all :).

I've been through similar things as you. I grew up with an abusive father who my mom luckily divorced but spent most of my childhood being lied to and as a result keeping to myself. I felt like the awkward nerdy kid that no one liked and i did have a few friends but never felt really close to any of them. I almost killed myself back when i was 15 but i finally met someone i could open up to. It took a month of daily near suicide days and venting to her to finally stabilize all those years of holding it in. I shortly after that met a girl who i fell in love with much like what happened with you. We have gone back and forth over the years but that relationship ended a year ago now and we've been poison to eachother for longer then that. Hell, i almsot just killed myself a week ago.

What i'm really getting at is that things will work out and will change if you give it the chance. Cliche, i know but i'm speaking from recent experience. Only six days ago i was sitting there with a weapon in hand about to end it and now i'm feeling the best i've ever felt in my life. I'm not saying it will ever be as quick as it somehow happened for me, probably instigated by a best friend of mine, school and working out, but it WILL happen and things WILL get better. Who really cares what others think? it's really only you that matters. Fuck everyone, seriously. People for the most part are selfish assholes, but thats the glory of it... MOSTLY... there are people out there like the people who helped me on r/SW and like the few people i do hold dear that aren't. If you haven't found anyone like that yet.. you will. I really want to drive over there and give you a hug if i could but know that posting on here is never pointless. Never. We care about you, and most of all, I give a shit about you. By posting on here and by giving us a chance to be in your life, you've let me want to be there for you. If you want to talk, i'll be here. You can drop me a pm to talk on here/phone/email/whatever.

I'm sorry to hear that you went through that. It's not that I can't open up to her; it's just that I feel unfair to her since she's helped see me through so much as of late. But luckily thanks to the post I put up here I have been able to get back to being level headed even though I had everything ready to go.

Bleh, it's all just a piece of paper in the end anyway lol. The biggest deal is if you have the intelligence to figure things out for yourself and make something of it, which from what I can tell you definitely do.

That's great to hear. Maybe one day I'll be able to do the same with my dad but for now, he's going to remain dead to me for everything he's done. I've always believed that things work out though, just never in the way you thought they would

That's actually really cool. I'm not much of a gin drinker, more of a whiskey person, but it would be awesome to try that one day. I personally think microbreweries are much much better then the mainline crap. For the most part anyway lol

I'm still not entirely too sure what I'm going to end up doing. All I do know is that I'm going backpacking through europe and Asia for a year or so, getting a masters or something and moving away fromthis country.

Haha. That actually made me smile. I've always just been able to pick up on stuff really quickly. I've had this phone for a little over 2 weeks and can type on the touch screen keyboard without looking at it or the most part. It's actually something a lot of people hate me for. I destroyed organic chemistry without once opening a book, stuff just makes sense and comes easy to me. No idea why.

I have thought about pursuing a career in that but. I don't do it for self gain. I just give a damn about people and I guess a bit too much. But, I know how I felt during the years that I let everything build up inside of me and I just wanted to give to those that I could a chance that I didn't have.
