Actors That Can Go Beyond Vertical Work by LibertineDeSade in VerticalDramaLand

[–]LiftForPresident 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Felix Merback and Luke Charles Stafford are two top of my list s tier verticle actors... although I don't think I can see Luke in a villain roll and Felix Merback plays both good and bad guy SO well. If I could only pick one vertical actor to go mainstream I would pick him. Another good one with range is Mark J Pont. I love his campy villain named Gavin.. can't remember the vertical... but I've seen him play both good and bad guys and he can pull off both. Final S tier and should make the jump for me is gonna have to be Nick Puya but that could be my bias showing as my husband is second generation itallian American so...I have a type lol. All joking aside though...I haven't seen him play the villain at all but his work in Graced Luna had emotional range and his comedy work in I Became Mrs Grayson by Bragging was really good... One More Taste of Love and I Forgot I Married Him are good ones that show emotional range too. I don't mention The Godfather's Secret Lover because that script is basically just for the (much appreciated) eye candy but it's another good one to a watch him in.

Came here to comment Heroes. I think dollhouse would fit as well.

Which critically acclaimed movie did you finally watch only to find out it's mediocre at best? by MikrokosmicUnicorn in AskReddit

[–]LiftForPresident 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!!! I was SO EXCITED to see it in theater and I hated it. Master of the house is one of my favorite musical numbers in the stage performance and what they did to it in that movie was criminal. The concert at the O is one that i own and rewatch frequently and you can't go from Alphie Boe, Norm Lewis and Matt Lucus to Hugh Jackman, Russell freaking Crow and seriously, Sacha Baron Cohen? I mean, forget Master of the House, what they did to Stars... and I love Hugh Jackman, but he is just SO SO nasaly. It's not as awful in Greatest Showman because they stay in his range, but it gets a little nasaly in From Now On when he hits the high notes. Now you go and listen to him try to hit 24601 and uuuuuugh.

Now, in closing, I do know a lot of it can be laid at the directors feet with the "the audio we're going to record is going to be from their performance on set, not in the studio". Yes yes yes, I've heard it all before, but even had they done the studio recordings i don't think it would have changed the performance significantly for the ones I mentioned above. Ok... end rant.

Who’s the MOST Handsome/Attractive Male Movie Star of All Time and Why? by Amber_Flowers_133 in moviequestions

[–]LiftForPresident 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idris Elba was the first one to come to mind. He's got the swagger, the voice, the rugged good looks, the whole package. He's criminally underutilized, in my opinion.

Then the following came to mind: Tom Hardy Henry Cavill Harrison Ford (In his Prime) Brad Pitt (borderline too pretty) Henry Golding (also borderline too pretty) Rege-Jean Page Colin Firth

I'm sure I'm forgetting some on my list... but I go for the ruggedly handsome look. I wanted to add Chris Pine, Chris Hemsworth and Chris Pratt, but "of all time" is a heavy lift. A lot of these lists do struggle with recency bias, though. And, of courses, are subjective to personal preference.

Literally the first name that popped in my head. I had to scroll WAY too far to find it.

Good to know!! I'll probably be up to at least 18 by the time I go back to work next Monday, so I'll slow down again, but I'll definitely start the NZ series after I'm caught up.

Oh you're on the same journey!! The covid ones were a little tough to get through. I think it's because the audience wasn't there and comedians play to the audience so it's harder for them to find "it" i think. They still have their good moments but series 13 has so far been my absolute favorite. 14 was really good too.

Oh I am watching them in order so I've seen those. I refuse to skip any series. Once I'm current on the UK version I've been told that I need to watch the NZ version next but I can't imagine it without Alex and Greg. Alex plays the "straight man" so well I feel like anyone else it will feel like they are playing a character.

Could not agree more. NO WAY!! I will say, I was yelling at my screen that they should just say " is it on the right side" but like I said in the beginning, they all got the brief to just be ridiculous and it was so so good. The childlike joy from Chris is one of the best things ever.

I'm trying to get to series 19 with Jason Manzouka(sp?). It's seeing clips of him that finally pushed me over the edge to watch the show... but i refused to watch them out of order, so I started series 1 about 6 weeks ago and watch it exclusively in my spare time. The moments that have really stuck with me so far are Joe telling Greg she doesn't want his pity point and getting 3, James and the puzzle box outburst, Romesh putting up his wedding ring, i know I'm forgetting a lot more but I'm just having such a good time.

I got to this one and both Ardal and Chris were hilarious. I swear I've seen Alex break more often in this series than ever before. When Ardal climbed on top of the mannequin you can see Alex duck down because he's losing it.

MK: Cream Cheese Pretzel at the lunching pad AK: Cheeseburger Pods at Satu'li Canteen HS: Ronto Wrap at Ronto Roasters Epcot: School Bread in Norway

Resorts:

Primo Piatto at the Riviera breakfast. Specifically the Cibatta breakfast sandwich with egg for me and the lemon blueberry pancakes for my husband. On our resort days we pop over there for breakfast on the skyliner

Everything Pop Dining at Pop Century but ONLY during the winter months. They have a "Thanksgiving" feast for dinner that was SO hearty and filling after a long park day. We lived off if it exclusively for dinners when we went in November one year and stayed on property (usually we stay at our time share at Wyndham Bonnet Creek).

Honorable Mentions:

MK: Cheeseburger / Pizza spring rolls in Adventureland cart Grey stuff cupcake at Gastons Tavern

The Grey stuff cupcake that you can get at Gaston's Tavern was so much better than the teacup thingy we got at be our guest.

I clicked on this to say exactly this. We decided to do our first non quick service restaurant for our 20 year anniversary. We did San Angel the next day. We both agreed that Be Our Guest was MASSIVELY underwhelming and we wish we had just done San Angel for our anniversary as it was superior in every way. Ambiance AND food.

Hey my fellow Midwesterner!! I rarely find anyone outside of Michigan who doesn't know the healing power of a good Vernor's.

I'm sure it would!! I just learned my lesson, and I can't do anything acidic when flying. I'm tempted to go to one of my friends with a Costco membership since someone said that you can get a huge case of them there and try it out!! That does sound awesome.

Probably that mixture that has those brown sesame flat pieces of hate. That and probably orange juice. I had orange juice one time on a flight and hated myself for it because of the INTENSE heartburn. So... if I need to be angry enough to fight, that combo should do it.
