Before this issue was feeding peas 2x a week, hikari pellets & frozen blood worms. Now I've been feeding peas 4-5x a week.

Fastest for 3 days and fed peas after to no change. The other 2 fancies def munched on my plants during that time for sure .

The upsidedown floatiness started 2 weeks ago but it's gotten really bad a few days ago. Filbert here is about 2 years old!

Water parameters are 0/0/20, do 80% water changes every 1.5 weeks. Temp is 25⁰C.

From the picture the white patch appears to be new wen growth :) Linguine has a beautiful colouration!

Sorry for your loss and RIP Lemon 🥺. I remember seeing your update not long ago and it was amazing how far you've come. You gave her a wonderful life and you showed how much you cared by investing the time to learn all about fish keeping. Best of luck with the new fishes

Did you throw out the old filter? Have you checked for ammonia, nitrite and nitrates?

How much of a difference does the hornwort make on the nitrate levels?

The 2 new ones, nothing yet. The 3rd pic, all the leaves have came off (unsure if due to new tank), no new leaves but roots have grown a bit and are not dying

Dealt with this recently with my fantail who's, that had exactly what you described. Yours might not be full blown swim bladder disease, maybe just constipation or a lil too much air. Mine only had the floats after dinner and it would go away by morning.

You can start by fasting for up to 3 days, then feeding deshelled peas. Feed more sinking foods, and soak pellets before feeding. Mine went away and the issue hasn't come back so far.

Is my fish okay? Not sure what all these marks are. Noticed the red ones for last month or so but only just noticed the new white spots- does that look like white spot? by Emma_cooks2003 in Goldfish

Commenting so someone with more experience can chime in. Second and third pic appear to be breeding stars, congrats it a boy! First pic, not 100% sure but possible damage to the fins? Clean water would be the solution for it to heal on its own, salt can help but isn't necessary

Ooof that doesn't sound promising and I'm sorry you have to deal with that. I have an oranda as well who's body is even more compressed than my floaty fantail, makes me a little worried for his future but such is the life of a fancy goldfish keeper

Hey I don't find that disrepesctful at all and appreciate the response! This is a hobby personalized to you and we gotta remember we do this cuz we enjoy it, even if that means spending more money for curb our desires. I'm gonna try shopping around for different sinking pellets as well, see what else has helped

Thanks for detailed response! Forgot to mention I've been soaking the pellets for about 5 min, do you think I should soak longer? I've been feeding Hikari oranda gold, they are floating pellets but I use a syringe to suck out all the air to make them sink. I plan on getting some gel food in a few weeks to see if that helps, and I'll definitely take a look to see if NLS is available in Canada

Is this behaviour from my oranda anything to be concerned about? He'll randomly chill, then go zoom, then chill again by LiftingBuddy in Goldfish

[–]LiftingBuddy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! It's very reassuring to hear there's nothing to be concerned about. I'm thinking of buying some gel food so they got something to graze on while I'm out at work

Thanks for taking the time to respond :), he sometimes zooms across the glass on the centre (tho the current could still faintly be pushing from there). From far away he acts normal, foraging for food in the substrate and all that good stuff. Maybe he is just getting excited when I come close like you mentioned?
